Description

I am the second owner of this nice example of a Yamaha XS850survivorof 35 years of loving care in FordSapphireBlue paint with Gold plated tank and side coveremblemswith some custom hand made parts. But I ampursuingotherinterestsand wish to sell my one of kind bike. And I hope that it will go to a good home and be enjoyed as much as I have over the years.
The Bike has 31000 miles on the frame but I have replaced all the wheel bearings and brake pads at 25000 miles with OEM parts and I rebuilt the engine at 28000 using again only Yamaha parts. The rear tire has about 2000-3000 miles left on it and the front has about 5000 left. I replace thetroublesomeHitachi carbs withMikuni'soff of a 1977 XS750which run great below 7500 RPM then go a bit lean a larger main jet change would solve that. I average 36 MPG with city and highway riding.
The bike has a large wind shield that has some damage low near thehandlebar on the right side a careless person bumpsomethinginto it. And the crash bars on the hard to find Yamaha saddle bags. Are starting to loose there silver plating as I show in the pics.
Now for the custom parts on this bike.
All theflexiblebrake lines areTeflonbraidedstainless steel what andimprovementto the feel of the brakes over the standard rubber lines. With DOT 5 brake fluid.
The exhaust is a 304 stainless steel 3 into 2 header withHarleyDavidsonSportstermufflers which I think soundawesome and always turns heads going down the road.
All the lighting has been updated to LED's including the headlight which is the same type you would also find on all newMilitary Vehicles produced today. Thebrightensof this lamp is outstanding in its performance.
There is also two shoulder lamps on a custom stainless light bar.
Along with the Speedometer and Tachometer I haveinstalled Autometer Phantom volt and oil pressure gaugesto keep track of the engine vitals.
The Seat on the bike is the rare Yamaha special order through thedealershipBananaelevatedpassenger seat. I have only seen a few oneBayover the years and this one is ingreatshape except for a very very tiny tear in the side as the pic shows.
LED Brake lamps and turn signals are from aAustraliancaravanon custompolishedstainless steel brackets.
I know that I am missingsomethingbut I havealwaysreceivedcomplements on the condition of this bike and manydon'tbelieveit isreally35 years old. It is still a great survivor from the 80s.
