1997 Yamaha YZF750R survivor with TRUE GENESIS 5-VALVE ENGINE,EXUP (EXaust Ultimate Power valve), LUMINUM FRAME AND SWING ARM, actory BREMBO rearbrake cylinder, 2mm KYB USD (upside-down) front forks, nd 320 mm front brake discs. This bike is truly a watershed engineering feat of technology, esign and performance, ased on my own impressions of its very modern handling characteristics. This YZR750R has OEM bodywork and ALL ORIGINAL OEM GRAPHICS ARE CORRECT AND PRESENT.
Let's get the the disclaimers out the way and then on to the "good stuff".
IT IS NOT A SHOW BIKE.
IT IS AN 18 YEAR OLD SPORTBIKE WITH 19920 MILES. AS SUCH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR IS TO BE EXPECTED. ANY KNOWN ISSUES WILL BE EITHER DISCUSSED BELOW AND/ OR DEMONSTRATED IN PHOTOGRAPHS SO PLEASE REVIEW THEM VERY CLOSELY AND PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS.
Now for the good stuff.
This is why the 1997 Yamaha YZF750R is so special.
The YZF750 was the subsequent model to the 1990 Yamaha OW01 750, hich was strictly race-focused, roduced in homologated (low) numbers and very expensive. 1993 was the first year for YZF750Rs and they were not imported into the the USA that year. US production began in 1994 through 1998. The YZF750 was theFIRST PRODUCTION BIKE EVER TO BE FACTORY FITTED WITH 6-POT FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS. The 5-VALVE GENESIS ENGINE, ULLY ADJUSTABLE FR/ RR SUPENSIONS and ALUMINUM FRAMEconspired to show its true racing intentions and heritage. It was one of the first bikes to be factory-fitted with USD (upside-down KYB 42mm) forks and 320mm front brake discs. Many European magazines have suggested the the 1996 (and later) YZF750Rs sported an OHLINS TUNED rear shock and if true, t is a very cool feature. The 1997-8 models also sport "curved" radiators and BREMBO rear brake cylinder (see photos). Other features include clip-on bars, teel fuel tank (which won't swell or warp with use government-mandated alcohol-petroleum fuel mixes like the modern plastic fuel cells), FOX-EYE" dual headlight design, odern 17-inch rims, ater-cooling, -speed transmission, ikuni 38mm CV carbs and finally, claimed 125 BHP at the crank and 165 MPH top end. Overall, very impressive 750.
I purchased this bike from the 2nd owner with all of its original body work, omplete OEM/ factory graphics and condition as seen in the photos. He had polished the rims, odified the seat fender (see photos) and was running it after removing the OEM fuel pump/ thermister unit. It had original chain and sprockets as well as the original German halogen headlamps. All OEM blinkers were present. Prior to purchase, he engine fired immediately and mechanically sounded very good with no unduenoises. Bridgestone Battlax 120/70ZR17F and 180/55ZR17 (OEM size) tires remain on the bike as purchased and are good enough to allow the purchaser a little "handling exploration" prior to putting on the tires you really want. It comes with its original factory/ OEM key that also fits the fuel tank and rear seat compartment, ut the fully functional ignition switch came damaged - I will include an extra/ undamaged OEM ignition switch with OEM key (see photo). There were and are no leaks of any kinds from this bike. The clutch and transmission operate properly with no issues. There are no dings in the radiator and all of the water hoses look good. The engine does not smoke and fires immediately, ut ALL YZF750R Genesis 5-valves consume a little oil when riding with pace - PERIOD. OEM chrome muffler is present and in excellent condition, hich is hard to find in this condition. OEM tool kit present (see photo). There is no rust in the fuel tank. I bought the bike because it WAS nearly all original.
SINCE PURCHASE:- FT/ RR/ BRAKE and CLUTCH lines all professionally drained, led and fluid replaced withFULL-SYNTHETIC CASTROL LMA (LOW MOISTURE) HYDRAULIC FLUID.- Carbs and fuel lines have been removed and professionally cleaned.- NEW/ OEM FUEL PUMP/ THERMISTER UNIT (#4FM-13910-00/ OEM GASKET/ FUEL PUMP RELAY and OEM fuel line ($950.00 plus installation) replaced earlier this year. Thefuel system operates properly as designed by Yamaha.- NEW NGK CR9IEX IRRIDIUM sparkplugs.- NEW 520- DRIVE CHAIN CONVERSION with (gold) DID VX2 X-RING 106-tooth chain(with continuous/ riveted master link) and OEM # tooth FT/RR steel sprockets.- NEW(Italian) PROGRIP 780 grips.- NEW MEIER REAR SEAT COWL with professionally applied Color-Rite paint and clear-coat over OEM Yamaha decal on top/custom graphics (Tape Works) on sides. OEM seat underneath the cowl and OEM passenger strap included in sale.- K&N filter in original airbox.- MOBIL 1 FULL SYNTHETIC 10w-40 oil change with K&N oil filter.- If you are picky, he graphics are very "touch upable" and any panel mars could be substantially diminished. I touched up the clutch-side lowers as they were the worst. I didn't want to repaint and (repro) decal them as then they would not be original - see photos.CLEAR FLORIDA TITLE in my name. The bike is located in Kansas City.
BOTTOM LINE:
THIS IS A NICE BIKE.
It is a good to very good survivor example 1997 Yamaha YZF750R. It garners inordinate attention wherever it goes - especially to those who know what it is but even to those that don't. It fires immediately, uns good, ccelerates hard and tracks straight with absolutely no wobbles either at linear pace or in corners. It is a very solid visual and mechanical platform that can be ridden as-is or further developed into the YZF750R of your dreams. Again, eview the photos as they very accurately reflect the condition of the bike.
The YZF will also listed locally so the auction may end early if sold.
