Description

It has come time to sell my 1976 XT 500, his bike has been anvil reliable and I would take it ANYWHERE. I have owned over 10 XT, R, nd TT 500's over the years and this one has zero mechanical issues and goes down the road as it should.
Here is a list of the work that has been done by myself (50 year old pretty good xt mechanic) within the last 1,000 miles.
New fork seals with new 20w motul fork oil. No pits or chips on chrome fork legsThe rear shocks work well and do not leakNew IRC TR8 tires with new tubes and rim strips with balancing. Rims are not bent or cracked and spin true.Inspected and lubed front and rear wheel bearingsInspected and lubed all cablesNew brake pads front and rear. Brakes are smooth and do not pulseNew dash light bulbs (much brighter than stock)New fuel line and in-line filterNew seat cover, oam is good and not crusty or degradingNew o ring chainNew KEDO replica front fenderNew stock air filter elementOil changed with filter 3X in the last 1k miles with motul 5100Valves adjusted with lots of adjustment leftTiming chain tension adjustedNew stainless steel header pipe with new exhaust copper gasketClean and check points and timingLubed the swing arm and wheel zurk fittings
Riding the bike it shifts perfectly, he clutch doesn't slip or grab, he headset bearings don't have any movement front to back or stiff spots, he wheel bearings are all good, he motor and valve train are very quiet and tight (I do know a worn out sloppy xt when I hear it) the bike carburates perfectly hot or cold and usually starts first kick with no nagging petcock or float leaks. The fuel tank is clean on the inside and does not require a liner or any cleaning. I have no reason to believe the mileage is not accurate and do believe the motor has never been opened up. Additionally the motor does not leak any oil, r have head or base gasket leaks nor does it burn oil. The gauges work perfectly and do not float or hunt in any way they just work as they should and do not fog up on damp mornings. The turn signals come on with the dash light but do not blink probably needing a new flasher.Bike has complete tool kit including the feeler gauge and nice Yamaha bag but I ran out of picture room.
I would like to be clear that I have used this bike as a dual sport bike and it is without mechanical issues but is a rider with dents in the tank scratches in the frame paint etc. It is very correct and would be a great restoration candidate if you wanted to get a stock exhaust and tidy everything up, r do as I did and just enjoy it and not stress when you see a dirt road!!!!
500.00 pay pal deposit required at auction close balance by cashiers check or cash in person. I have plenty of room to store the bike for international buyersI will work with buyers shipper but buyer accepts all responsibility for shipping.Bike has a California title currently in non-op with no back fees.
Feel free to call with questions regarding this motorcycle as I'm sure I forgot something. I have more pictures if needed, nd am available until 9pm Pacific time.Mark 707 333 5762Please respect the auction process and don't ask my reserve.
