Description

1965 Yamaha YDS2,

This vintage, lassic is one of the MOST ORIGINAL, nrestored antiques on the road today. Yes, t is still on the road and being used for a great classic ride. Always draws admiring looks and comments as it is driven. Old timers remember their youth and the youth admire this ol’ timer (the bike, ot me). It is a great bike to ride to any rally or classic show. It draws lots of attention!

It currently has only 8117.9 miles on it and that will likely change slightly this week as a few last autumn rides are taken

You would be hard pressed to find a more original, nrestored bike that has earned its natural “patina” over the years (50 years old now) and still looks great and runs this well. Yes, t does have some old age spots, ut I felt it was “better” this way. The patina is visible in the pictures. First of all the gas tank is in overall great condition, ut the blue paint does have some wear spots as noted on the picture. It also has one small (dime to nickel size) dent on the chrome on the right side.

The seat is original and there are two smaller holes on the cover on the right side leather (also shown in the pictures). I put black tape over them for riding and they are barely visible then, ut they are there. There is also some brazing behind the shock on the chain guard.

The engine starts immediately with a turn of the key and a push of the button and the 250 cc’s easily move this bike nicely through all the gears. The original owner’s manual (included) says the bike’s top speed is 92 MPH, ut I have never tested that theory. The powerhouse, wo-stroke engine (which it was in those days) is quick and can easily attain highway speeds. It does require you to mix your own oil with the gas as it does not have an automatic oiler system (this is good, ecause the early automatic systems were prone to failure.)

All systems function as they should……lights, orn, lectric start (or kick), peedometer, dometer and are original equipment to the bike. It has a new battery that listed for over $100.00 (so a high quality battery).

No, t is not perfect, ut for a 50 year old that has had no face-lifts or replacements it is about as close as one is going to find anywhere, nytime. Great bike as it is or a great candidate to bring to pristine condition.

The classic Yamaha badges on each side of the gas tank are in wonderful condition and the vintage Yamaha logo can also be noted on the gas cap and on the speedometer. It even still has its very classy and classic original gas gauge: a dipstick in the gas tank. Tires are good and the tread is deep.

I even have the two original keys for the bike.

Go ahead and search for another Yamaha YDS of this era and vintage. Check eBay or any other search online and you are likely to come up empty. If you can even find one, t is more than likely a “basket case” or maybe you can happen upon a fully restored model, ut good luck on getting something like that without breaking the bank.

This will be a NO RESERVE auction because there is only one way to really tell what this bike is worth…..that is what someone is willing to pay for it. So please bid if you are serious, lease don’t if you are not. Winning bidder will get it, o please be thoughtful and serious as you consider bidding. Shipping or pick up will be entirely up to winning bidder.
