1979 Yamaha XS11

You are looking at (and hopefully bidding on) a pristine, 979 Yamaha XS11 Special. This bike has less than 6k miles on it and looks like it has never spent a night outdoors. I think that the original owner bought the bike and when confronted with the power of the thing was a little scared of it. One good twist of the throttle and you will see why. This bike was a superbike before there was such a thing as a superbike. This bike was described by one test rider in one of the cycle magazines of the time as being aptly named. He said it had excess (XS) power, xcess speed and excess braking, nd that the bike was most likely better than the average and even the above average rider. The only thing that I have found wrong with the bike is a broken handgrip/throttle handle. I repaired it with some grip tape and it holds fine, ut it should be replaced. I bought the bike as a rider but it is.just too nice to take it out and thrash it around, o I think I will just pass it on to someone who will appreciate it and care for it. The bike is almost completely original with the only aftermarket part that I notice is the Mustang seat. Period correct but not original equipment.
