I have for sale a 1971 Yamaha DT1 250cc, t has 4,152 miles on it. It is good condition, owever has not been riden in years except today down the street and back. The bike has a clean Michigan title in my name. The numbers on frame and engine are matching. Here is a list of all the good and bad that I know about the motorcycle
NEED OF ATTENTION
- headlight is burned out- starts hard-Needs a new bolt for the heat shield on muffler- a knee dent in tank ( not creased, hould come out without repainting)- needs a new or rebuilt petcock- has some scratches and surface rust in areas, however not what you would expect from a 45 year old bike- front forks are spongy- tires are original I believe- needs a tune-up- no tools in tool box- tank has some surface scratches on top of tank near the seat-needs a drain plug washer, ill leak a drop or 2 of oil occasionally.
THE GOOD
- low mileage- only bored once- gas tank, eadlight, il tank, frame, believe are original paint- both front and rear rims are in excellent condition- no rips in seat- fenders and muffler, ylinder have been repainted- inside gas tank is very clean for age- tach, speedo, brake, tail light, linkers work- has original baffle still in muffler- would say 95% original- has good compression
PLEASE READ----I have owned a couple of these and the fact that this bike has been sitting for several years, ould lead me to HIGHLY recommend that a mechanic or someone who is familiar with older 2 strokes to go through the bike. I put fresh gas, ew battery in it, icked it several times and was able to ride it for a mile or 2 down the rode and back, hich it did run descent and shift fine. I would adjust the brakes, valuate the tires, heck the timing? clean or rebuild carb, heck the oil injection for proper mixture, nd do an over all inspection of the whole bike. Fortunately, stroke engines are the easiest engine, and typically the most inexpensive to work on. I don't want to give the impression that you can jump right on it and take it across country, t is a 45 year old bike. Over all it is in nice shape, nd the 71s are a rare year to find in this good of shape. My RESERVE is low leaving a little wiggle room for you to get yourself a tune up or whatever else you would like to do with it. Buyer is responsible for shipping, ut I will help out with loading the bike if needed.
