I have a 1985 Yamaha RZ350, he Last of the Two Strokes, n all original condition with only 6955 original miles. Yes all ORIGINAL condition with the original catalytic converters. The only non original parts are the hand grips, rake pads and tires (brand new Metzler Lasers in 1993 still hold air and look good, o dry rot). It was never down, ever crashed, as no dents or major scratches.
I bought this bike and used it for recreational street riding. I had the intention of road racing it. Unfortunately life got in the way with kids, ortgage, areer and and my dreams of being the next Kenny Roberts dwindled, aded and were eventually forgotten (now I occasionally ride a full dress bagger with a bunch of old guys).
This bike was carefully put in long term storage in 1993. (Fuel drained, attery removed, rank Case filled to top with oil etc) and put in a barn for when I got time to ride it again. That day never came. 22 Years later my son "discovered" it and made me drag it back out into the light of day. We uncovered it, ook it out and found it to be in remarkably good condition.
We found that some mice were living in the airbox and under the rear cowl. The mouse droppings were removed and the bike washed. It is in very good shape and the engine turns freely. It is not seized or locked up. No scratches, ings or dents.
I would guess that you could change the oil, dd fuel and a battery and ride it as is. In my opinion that would be a waste, his bike is nearly perfect. There is some oxidization and if I had time I would tear it down clean it up and make it look like new. BUT I don't have time so id rather see it go on to a new home with someone that will appreciate it.
