117 actual miles, ne owner and mint condition! This 1986 vintage Yamaha is a museum piece out of a time warp!It is 100% stock and all original. The seat material, rips and rubber protectors are still very soft.I am so proud to service, hine and offer this immaculate work of art.The unique styling, unctions and performance of this beauty was ahead of its time and in my opinion 30 years later still ahead of cutting edge design and style.Way to go Yamaha! My customer bought 2 of these brand new from MC Salesat 13347 W. Washington Blvd, os Angelas, alifornia.Thirty years ago this very unique and flashy gemcaught his attention. He bought one to ride and this one to preserve indoorsfor 30 years. He rode its twin and really enjoyed the great handling, tyle and smoothhorse power of this great in line 4 cylinder. 1986 was the year that full fairing cafe racer/ sport bikes started to take hold. This Yamaha Fazer along with its cousin theYamaha Radian was one of the last of this type and style. The majority of the motorcycle market 30 years ago started a shift towards full fairing sport bikes and V-twin cruisers. You can find naked bikes now days but in my opinion you will find nothing quite like this and certainly not in this sort of museum quality.
This beast is not even broke in yet and is begging to be set free!Begin your summer adventure or preserve it for another 30 years.Either way this is art that needs to be shown off.
The 117 miles was put on it spread out over the years simply to exercise it.On March 15-2016 the planned 30 years was up so I got a call from the ownerasking me to pick it up from his home in Indian Wells California in the Palm Springsarea. We uncovered it and brought it out of his air conditioned garage.Needless to say..... at first glance I was stunned!
I got it to my shop (Sam's Cycle Service Inc. since 1976) and did a complete storage revival and full service. The owner paid us a total of $1663.31Here is what we did:Flush out the gas tank and found no rust at all inside the tank or anywhere on theentire bike.Removed the carburetors and found some light varnish inside.Removed the air filter and spark plugs and sprayed WD40 into the plug holes.Installed a new quality Yuassa battery and cranked the engine while blowing air into the intakes.Cleared the WD40 and did a compression test.Compression readings were fantastic at 175-190-180-185.Installed new spark plugs.Put the carburetor bank into our 10 gallon ultrasonic cleaner tank.Rebuilt the carburetors with all new gaskets and seals.Rebuilt the fuel petcock with new seals.Flushed out the fuel pump.Installed new genuine Honda fuel hose.Put 2 gallons of ethanol free fuel in the tank.If interested you can read "storage warning" on my website.Changed the coolant, il, il filter and brake and clutch hydraulic fluids.Lubed and adjusted the chain.Removed the switches to clean and grease the contacts.Adjust tire pressure and inspect the 30 year old tires. The tires do show some minor dry cracking.Over 34 years as a full time hands on motorcycle shop ownerI have never seen a motorcycle tire come apart due to dry cracking.I personally would run them through the tread life and not worry. Some of my customers feel better with new tires so it is your call.
I did a test ride and have been starting it almost daily to ride it toour front lot and back.We also did a complete detail shine and polish job and testedall the lights.Absolutely everything works as new.The fork seals do not leak at this time. This bike was stored and revived professionally.I am very conservative and detailed in my cosmetic descriptions.I will have to say that this bike is in mint condition except for:1. A tiny scratch on the front fender as pointed out in the pictures.2. Some discoloring of the black area at the rear of the front fenderperhaps brake fluid was spilled on it.3. A tiny scuff on the left side of the gas tank in front of theYamaha emblem. This beauty is ready to go and needs nothing other than tobe appreciated as a museum piece or to be set free to the road.
