YAMAHA DT400MX. Great original condition.100% complete.

This is a lovely time warp condition DT400MX. First of the mono shocks. Registered as a 1978 bike. These bikes are hard to find to say the least. This was imported last year from the US. and I purchased it from the importer less than three months later. It was taxed and came with a MOT. All the registration is in order and V5 present in my name. It's on a age related 'S' plate and currently on a SORN. This is a matching numbers bike. PLEASE READ THIS ADD CAREFULLY. if you have any questions please feel free to ask. As I've mentioned. it is currently Sorned and in my view needs a good going over and as can happen. I just haven't had the time . due to other projects. and so here it is for sale. Here is what it needs in my view:  - sounds obvious. but a good going over. As Ive said its all there but I am selling it as a light project. rather than a ready to ride away bike.   - a carb clean. It does run but it has been sitting for a little while and these two strokes need to be run.    - the oil pump isn't connected. This is often the case with US bikes as they preferred their own premix. However when I removed the oil pump cover I couldn't believe the 'as new' condition. So its all there. just needs a reconnection and bleed.  - Bodywork. If you want it as a show bike then the side panels and mudguards will need refinishing as they have a yellow coat of paint on them. The tank has a transportation dent ( looks like a handlebar ). It didn't bother me too much. but again it depends what your intention is.  - When I purchased it I was told it was MOT'd without the indicators as they created a loss of charge. The indicators are included in the sale. So there is a electrical problem that needs addressing. The ignition switch. although working. doesn't feel as precise as it should so could do with a refurb.  - Seat cover is torn on the top and currently taped up. I do have another cover that I purchased which is included in the sale.  So to round off. a good solid bike thats 100% there that does run. The wheels are in great condition and the chrome is terrific bar the handlebars. Its a very honest bike which in 36 years has covered less than 8000 miles. It doesn't require a lot and is a great light project. I would keep it if I didn't have two other projects!Viewings are welcome if you are seriously thinking of buying. I've had a lot of enquiries regarding what I will accept for the bike. so thought it best to add a line or two here. The buy it now price is what I paid for it. The bike is as it was with the addition of a seat cover. new battery and charger. The reserve is more than a realistic base price that I will accept for it. As soon as I saw the bike I thought 'wow!'. and I'm sure if you win you will too. I'd also like to add that the droplets on the bike in some of the photos is from using ACF50 during winter storage. The bike. it has been confirmed. did originally come with the alloy wheels and black hubs. So I have lowered the reserve to acknowledge this. Thanks for your interest.
