1986 YAMAHA TOWNMATE 80 - SILVER

A low mileage example (under 11. 00 miles) of a popular small motorbike in good condition for a 28 year old machine.  The bike was owned by one family from new until I bought it in 2010 and has all the MOTs and tax discs - but sadly no service record.  Since I've had it it has had a new clutch and front tyre as the old ones were OLD with the clutch grabbing and the tyre cracking.   OK - Good pointsRemarkably rust free as it has been garaged all its life.  Some mild rusting on the chrome wheels and exhaust. but no serious rust on the chassis. Economical - 120 mpg: £17 PA road tax. low insurance. MOT £30 PA. 4 speed gearbox is far superior to Honda versions: happily cruises at 30 mph and will do 45mph on a good day!  It is 28 years old!Shaft drive - no chains!Lightweight - about 90kg and great for use with a motor home. Bad points:- very small hole in exhaust. carburettor needs cleaning as it floods after standing overnight making it difficult to start. and it may need a new battery (according to the MOT advisory). Reason for sale?  New 125cc motorbike bought and the old one has to go as I have neither time nor inclination to sort out the minor defects as noted above!There is no reserve and I always allow the auction to go to the end so no "buy it now" offers. no foreign buyers. no part exchanges and strictly cash on collection ONLY.  You are bidding to buy and your winning bid is what you pay.  I have given an honest description of the bike; I respect honesty in return.
