Yamaha XJ 600 *Low Mileage*

XJ6. 1991.  Only 23. 00 Miles!12 months MOT. Good clean and original. HPi clear. NO Tax. (SORN) - I have a post office within walking distance of my home if you want to ride it away. In the last week I have re-commissioned this bike at my workshop.  2 x brand new Avon tyres fitted and balanced by my local motorcycle tyre specialist. New OEM Air filterNew OEM Oil filterNGK spark plugs x 4Morris engine oil. (The best in my opinion). New rear brake pads and fluid change to dot 5 spec. Front brakes inspected for wear. At least 5mm left on all four pads. discs all solid and in good condition. Valve Clearances done. I have the spec/check sheet. Carburettors removed. completely stripped. inspected. ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt. Fully balanced and mixtures adjusted once fitted back to engine. Inlet rubbers also checked for leaks. All good. Petrol tank and fuel tap flushed through. Drive chain cleaned and re-greased. Front forks rebuilt with Genuine Yamaha seals (mains and dust). Morris fork oil used. I originally purchased aftermarket seals here on ebay. they were absolute rubbish and went straight in the bin! So genuine Yamaha ones were purchased from my local dealer and I gave myself a slap on the wrist for being stupid enough to buy cheap Chinese parts. New Yuasa battery fitted. New handle bar grips. This bike is in nice condition for it's age. I have nearly all of the old MOT's dating back to 1996 and a little service history to help prove its low mileage. but when you see it you'll soon realise how genuine it is. It has had a new chain and sprocket kit fitted within the last few hundred miles and as you can see from above. I have now done everything else it needed to keep it running smoothly for a long time to come. The engine is lovely. it starts easily. doesn't rattle at all and it doesn't suffer from any oil leaks or any nasty-ness. It pulls through the gears well. stops well and the engine doesn't smoke. knock or do anything it shouldn't. I have two keys for it which fit all the locks. A couple of niggly bits to mention are a few pin dents in one area on the side of the fuel tank which could be fixed easily if you are a master at PDR or know someone that is? I considered having the bike painted but because it's paint is all original I felt it would be better left as standard. The seat has a small split which I have put a few stitches in to help hold it for a bit longer. but this will eventually need sorting to stop the foam from getting wet. Not urgent. but something to note and I can get the seat professionally re-covered for you at cost. Apart from a bit of light rust here and there and a few chips of missing paint that you would expect on a bike of this age. I hope you'll agree as I do that this is a nice original example of one of Yamaha's best sports/touring bikes. These have a great engine and a good following by Yamaha enthusiasts. it's a perfect all round bike if you're thinking of getting back into biking or looking for something to get lost on at the weekend. They also have a low seat height and don't struggle when carrying a passenger or luggage. Please see my feedback rating.
