Description

1200cc Full Power Yamaha VmaxI have been in love with the Yamaha VMax for decades but it's time for a very big clear out. Please see my current adverts for other VMax items. ncluding a spare engine and frame (with V5). This is a full power VMax. It is declared as manufactured in 1991 and first registered in the UK in April 1996. It has a V5 in my name and is currently on SORN. I bought this bike in 2010 with a view to restoring it or using it for spares (I have several of these bikes). It was bought as a running bike with some problems. I rode it briefly when I bought it. but only in the lower gears (no tax or insurance). It came with all MOT certificates from 1996 to 2007. nbsp;plus 2010-2011. Between 2007 and 2010 it had a replacement 1996 engine fitted. The known problems were as follows. 1) Fork seals leaking. 2) Battery u/s but push started. 3) Wiring of twin headlights not completed properly. 4) Brake hydraulics need full service. 5) Left hand S/arm pivot cap missing. 6) Rubber seal between faux tank and instrument cluster missing. 8) One plastic 'H' carb cover broken. It is fitted with a few 'goodies' including carbon style rear guard. nbsp;twin front lights. stainless radiator protector. front/engine crash bars. ribbed style alloy bar grips & flat bars. Since purchase it has just sat in my garage but has been used as a 'mule' to take measurements off etc. In particular. the vboost/carbs/airbox were removed to measure up for fitting FCR Flatslides onto another Max.  The coolant was completely drained prior to winter and the forks have also been drained. All parts removed are there (see photos) but I see little point in buying new gaskets etc and refitting it all. These days I prefer to go out riding.  Rear indicators have been removed for use on another bike. Instead I am starting this at just £1400. close to what I have been offered by a breaker. and no reserve. If it doesn't sell here they may get it but that's a shame. since this is a pretty easy restoration job. As far as I know. nbsp;the main tasks will be new fork seals. service all brake hydraulics. fit a new battery and give it a really good clean up. Rear tyre looks almost new but leaks (slowly). One primary throttle cable needs replacing. nbsp;bound to be a several duff bolts and other bits. usual stuff. In short. this could be the cheapest Max you will find and should only need a bit of work to get it up and running. It will also polish up pretty well apart from a bit of the frame that was rusty (bottom tube. left side nothing serious). Whatever. please note this is sold as spares or repairs. It needs some work and may have faults I am not aware of. It is not a running bike ready for MOT!Ignore what the press say. these are fabulous bikes and extremely comfortable.  I recently did 2500 miles in the Alps and South of France on one. including 600 miles in one day. without an ache anywhere and I'm 65. Brilliant things which is why I've still got two of them!Any questions. message me via ebay but I've detailed pretty much everything I know about it. Collection & paymentThis is strictly collection only with cash payment on collection. Must be collected within 7 days of auction end. Collect from Malvern area. WR13. close to M5/M50 junction. You are very welcome to view before auction end but I need notice(it's kept away from home in secure storage). Good Luck
