2001 Yamaha R1 5JJ. MINT CONDITION!!

A very regrettable sale of my lovely R1. can't believe I have to sell it to fund house renovations! This bike has had a full restore to mint condition which has cost a lot of money. It was in great condition when I bought it. Unfortunately it dropped a valve. I was just going to change the engine and that?ˆ™s it but very carried away and stripped the whole bike! I have never track dayed it and ridden it with respect and it?ˆ™s a bit sad but I won?ˆ™t even take her out in the rain. Believe me you don?ˆ™t have to thrash these bikes as they make so much power. The mid-range is sublime and over 6 thousand rpm it goes ballistic. So respect is required. It?ˆ™s so nice to ride the midrange and the great torque. The handling is fantastic and carves through bends fantastically. Mid corner she is so planted and confidence inspiring and begs to be cranked over. This bike is the last of the carbed models and doesn?ˆ™t need a lap top to service and maintain it compared to the new tackle. This is my 64th bike and I can say it?ˆ™s one of the best if not the best I have ever had. And it still looks the business compared to the new bikes. This bike is truly mint condition it really has to be seen. I have had so many complimentary comments about it when I park it up. The old engine had 25k miles on it but the new engine has 28k miles on it. it came from a good 2001 5jj that was broken reg Y154PKW that was HPI'd. it also came from a reputable supplier of R1 parts. It has been stripped and the gear box checked and found to have a worn 2nd and 6th gear which is common issue. Yamaha didn?ˆ™t cut the dogs properly on these gears hence they would round off and slip. New selector forks were put in as well. The engine was put together only using Yamaha original parts. gaskets and all O rings replaced which I can tell you are not cheap. The valves were checked and found to be well in tolerance. A new rear shock (original Yamaha) was put in and the forks serviced. The body work is mint as I bought a new set which looks fantastic. I have the old body work for inspection and is included in the sale.   The bike has no aftermarket parts apart from a set of crash boddins on the front forks and frame as can be seen in the photos and looks as it should out of the factory. It has the original pipe or the high level pipe which sounds great but does not allow pillions. The exup valve has been serviced and set up properly. It has a brand new battery fitted. There are loads of R1?ˆ™s on ebay but with this one you have the peace of mind that that gear box is not going to slip 2nd gear. A shop will charge about 1500 quid to rebuild the gearbox as it?ˆ™s a an engine out and split crank cases job. The price of these bikes will only go up as there starting to become a collector?ˆ™s bike. It is taxed and has a new 12 month MOT with obviously no advisory?ˆ™s. The V5 is in my name.
