Yamaha RD 250 B

Hi well its getting that time of year to have project in the garage/shed.   Although this lovely Yamaha RD250B is more of a rolling restoration.

I had this exact same bike when I was 17(now 55!)  Which is why I bought it. relive my youth and all that.  Party sevens. T Rex. Slade. The Who. nbsp; girls and partys?ˆ¦ it was a good to be a teen in the 70?ˆ™s.  

Back to the bike well it?ˆ™s taxed and MOT?ˆ™d ready to ride.   I have just been out on it for half an hour and it runs OK.   The bike needs running in so can?ˆ™t go ringing its neck which is of course the only way to ride a two stroke.   But it starts with in 3 kicks. ticks over smoothly and pulls through all six gears. and I did count them as I know early models only had 5 the 6th was blanked off!

 I am going to start with bad points that might not show in pictures.

?·        Tank has a little dent in left hand side. ?·        There are other marks on tank but not bad for age. ?·        Right hand foot peg is slightly bent up?·        Oil tank has been rattle can sprayed not a great match. ?·        Headlight bracket has been rattle can sprayed not a great match

Also I have just spent another £50 importing a NOS set of handle bars which have not yet been fitted. Oh and £30 on a K&N air filter which has not been fitted yet.  Also I have two Keys and engine and frame numbers match.

21000 recorded miles and has just been rebored with new pistons and rings fitted.   It is on . 75 OS Pistons so lots to go on barrels.

 I have just seen a complete heap sell for a £1000 so my bike is very fairly priced I feel but time will tell.
