This very rare and much sought after tax free 1972 Yamaha YDS7 250 has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life ?ˆ“ the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to machinery than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 9536 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks.

PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike is very nearly complete missing just the R/h mirror. Front brake cable & Chain guard.

BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. The bike is every bit as solid as it looks here & a great start to a classic restoration project. The wheels are straight with clean chrome rims. good hubs & brake plates. Forks & yokes look straight. Mudguards are both solid. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look ok. Paint work is all faded but fuel tank is reasonably clean inside and all are in the original paint. Carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. Exhausts are original & solid. The engine is cosmetically clean. it turns over nicely off the kick starter ?ˆ“ sounds/feels great & has compression ?ˆ“ When we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it fresh fuel it starts. runs & rides. We gave it a run around the car park - THE NOISE & SMELL SENDS TINGLES DOWN YOUR SPINE!!!

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT?ˆ™d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture. The American Title will do this.

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Send all this paper work to the DVLA. who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration & the current fee for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will send you a tax disc with your age related registration number.
