PICS ARE NOW BACK UP! Not sure what happened there! :) Hi. Up for sale is my awesome looking. clean 1992 Yamaha Virago XV1100 Bobber Chop with 24000 miles on the clock. The bike started life as a stock XV1100 which has now had the rear end hard tailed and fitted with a an expensive bobbered La Rosa Jack Daniels leather seat on a stainless steel frame with a custom made exhaust system. It's recently been professionally resprayed by Ace of Sprays in Bristol in Panther Black. You won't find another Virago like this! Bike can be delivered to most UK destinations for a fee! WALKROUND VIDEO LINK - http://youtu. be/ynOrwApO2oo Please read all of the ad so you know exactly what is on offer! The Details: Stainless steel frame Powder coated frame (Silver) Powder coated wheels (Black) Powder coated engine casings (Black) Powder coated forks (Black) 3 week old new paint job (fenders. tank and dials) professionally sprayed by Ace of Sprays in Bristol @ a cost of £300 - Colour is Panther Black Engine cylinders and crankcase painted black Stainless Steel bolts on engine covers etc Jack Daniels No7 leather seat on a stainless steel mount - Google the seat - Not cheap! Custom made stainless steel exhaust with rear pipe coming up over the engine not underneath (baffled so not offensively loud) Custom Z-Bars Bullet indicators Side mount rear lighting and number plate (7" x 5" plate fitted and full size plate supplied as well) Brake calipers refurbished with new seals. new fluid and paint job Braided stainless steel front brake lines Fork seals replaced and 20W oil added to improve damping. Harley Davidson petrol tap New oil filter New engine oil New battery Shaft drive 2 Good tyres 2 keys for tank and ignition (both keys fit tank and ignition) V5 is present Passed it's MOT on Thursday (16th Oct) so there is a full 12 months MOT on it. There is also a full 6 months Tax. When I bought the bike it was being run on a gravity fed fuel system which to be honest didn't really work very well. So at cost of £400 I have had a new fuel pump professionally fitted. which included having the fuel lines extended. Fitting was awkward because the location of the stock pump was gone. so I made sure this was properly installed and tested. I also had a new glass petrol filter fitted (see pic). which looks pretty cool.
The forks originally consisted of a spring. oil and compressed air damping system. The air system has been removed and the 10W fork oil replaced with 20W fork oil. The forks feel much better.
Ok. The important bit! I've sold many of my bikes on eBay over the years and I am always honest with the details. including any issues or things I think the new owner should know about. Having been stung a few times in the past by people not being that truthful I think it's important to list it all. Good and bad.
The bike has a couple of issues:
It has a small oil leak coming from the bottom of the engine (see last pic). It only started this week and I do not know what is causing it. The truth is I do not have the time to sort it out and after already spending £700 on a professional paint job and installing the new fuel pump I just haven't the time to sort it. I'm sure someone with engine knowledge would be able to sort it. But alas. that isn't me.
I believe (and again I am no expert) that the engine is running rich. You can see from the video that it turns over a few times before it starts. On occasions it will turn over and over but won't fire - Then a few minutes later it will be fine. Very sporadic. It will splutters at high revs in 1st gear. But it will then clear itself. Again. I have no idea what is causing this. The engine itself is solid. No knocking noises.
Battery is in the original battery box with an additional box for the relays and wiring. It could do with either a custom battery/wiring box being manufactured or some nice side panels to cover the battery box area being made. As the bike stands the battery and wiring is functional and everything works. The battery is 100% secure. The box option is a personal choice.
As with most eBay adverts I do not offer a warranty or money back on the bike but unlike others I've listed the details I think are important. I welcome views on the bike. I live in North Bristol about 3 miles from the M4/M32 junction. If you can't view the bike and want to purchase it I can arrange it to be delivered to most UK destinations. Price depends on location.
Why am I selling it? Various reasons. I've decided a HT as my daily ride isn't for me. I want something more upright. I've also just bought a campervan due to having a young family. and frankly I don't have the time to address the issues above. If I wasn't so busy I would definitely be keeping it! It really is a lovely looking. clean bike.
