BOUGHT AS AN ABANDONED PROJECT. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD STRIPPED THE BIKE AND HAD THE FRAME-SWINGARM-AND HEADLIGHT BRACKETS POWDER COATED . BUT THEN IT WAS SAT IN BOXES UNTIL I CAME ALONG.
IT HAS BEEN REBUILT WITH THE FOLLOWING:
BRAND NEW GENUINE YAMAHA BARREL. PISTON. RINGS. SMALL END BEARING. HEAD AND BASE GASKETS. INCLUDES NEW POWERVALVE END CAP TOO. THIS KIT WAS NOT CHEAP OR EASY TO FIND!!!
NEW GENUINE STEERING HEAD RACES AND BEARINGS.
BRAND NEW SCREEN
FRONT MASTER CYLINDER FULLY REBUILT WITH NEW SEALS ETC.
FRONT BRAKE CALIPER REBUILT WITH NEW SEALS
FRONT FORKS STRIPPED AND REBUILT. NEW SEALS IN THE LEFT FORK. INTERNALS CLEANED. SPRINGS CHANGED AND FRESH MOTUL FORK OIL IN BOTH.

100'S OF NEW SHINY NUTS AND BOLTS :-)
IT SELECTS GEARS PERFECTLY. SMOOTH CLUTCH ACTION. AND THE BRAKES WORK PERFECTLY.
NOW IT'S NOT PERFECT. IT DOES HAVE DINTS/SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE. WE'VE TRIED TO HIGHLIGHT THEM ALL IN THE PICTURES. ON THE NOSE CONE SOME OF THE PAINT HAS FLAKED SLIGHTLY NEXT TO THE NEW STICKERS. EASY FIX (MATT BLACK). THERE ARE SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE ON THE STICKERS/PANELS. BUT NONE OF THE PANELS ARE CRACKED OR BROKEN. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF DENTS IN THE TANK. BUT IT IS SOLID AND HAS NO LEAKS IT ALSO NEEDS A NEW SEAT LOCK (A COMPLETE SET CAN BE BOUGHT FROM CHINA FOR £24 THEN ALL LOCKS WOULD MATCH) THERE IS A SMALL AMMOUNT OF RUST ON THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE FRAME IN THE USUAL PLACE. BUT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. IT IS 100% SOLID AND WAS CHECKED BY THE MOT I HAVE SHOWN PICTURES OF THIS TO BE COMPLETELY OPEN AND HONEST. THE WHEELS WOULD BENEFIT FROM A RESPRAY. BUT AS YOU CAN TELL FROM MY DESCRIPTION AGAIN I AM BEING PICKY AND 100% HONEST!!!!
THE BIKE PULLS WELL BUT COULD DO WITH THE CARB SETTING UP SLIGHTLY AFTER THE RUNNING IN PROCESS IS DONE. IT IS CURRENTLY RUNNING A TAD RICH TO BE SAFE FOR RUNNING IN SO IT IS SLIGHTLY "FLUFFY" MIDRANGE BEFORE THE POWERBAND. AND IDLE IS A TAD RICH. BUT IT'S SAFER THAT WAY. ESPECIALLY ON A BRAND NEW GENUINE YAMAHA BARREL!!!. STILL SCREAMS IN THE POWERBAND!
IT HAS ONLY BEEN STEADILY RIDDEN AROUND FOR 100 MILES SO FAR. THE PILOT SCREW WILL NEED TURNING DOWN AND THE NEEDLE WILL NEED MOVING DOWN ONE NOTCH TO PUT IT BACK TO STANDARD SETTINGS AND NOT RICH AFTER RUNNING IN.
IT WILL HIT 80 AS IT IS. THE POWERVALVE IS SET TO THE CLOSED POSITION. THERE ARE TWO POSTITIONS NOTCHED OUT ON THE POWERVALVE COVER BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER SO IT IS A CASE OF UNDOING THE TWO BOLTS. CHANGING THE POSITION AND PUTTING THE BOLTS BACK IN AND THEN THE POWERVALVE WILL BE IN THE OPEN POSITION.
PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THE BIKE IS 25 YEARS OLD NOW. IT HAS NOT HAD A "FULL RESTORATION". BUT MECHANICALLY IT IS SOUND. AND HAS HAD A LOT OF WORK DONE TO IT. THE ENGINE STARTS WELL. THE ENGINE HAS HAD A 100 MILE RIDE AFTER THE FULL REBUILD. THE OIL PUMP IS WORKING FINE. IT COULD DO WITH ANOTHER 100 MILES RUNNING IN BEFORE BEING THRASHED. REMEMBER. THIS IS A 25 YEAR OLD 2 STROKE.
WE HAVE BEEN VERY DETAILED AND COMPLETELY HONEST IN OUR DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOGRAPHS. WE HAVE NOT HIDDEN ANYTHING. WHAT YOU HAVE HERE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A CLEAN. TIDY 25 YEAR OLD BIKE THAT HAS HAD A LOT OF WORK DONE TO IT. IT'S NOT COMPLETELY STANDARD AND IT HAS IT'S FAULTS. BUT ITS GREAT FOR IT'S AGE. BUT IT IS NOT A NEW BIKE!!!

AND IT PULLS WELL THROUGH ALL THE GEARS. BUT WILL NEED ADJUSTING AS IT DOESNT IDLE QUITE RIGHT. SO A LITTLE FETTLING/TWEAKING WILL BE NEEDED.
TO ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS.
IT IS A 2 STROKE. SO WILL NEED MAINTAINENCE.
IT HAS THE STANDARD CARB ON IT. WITH ALL STANDARD JETTING.
