Yamaha TZR250RR SP 3XV2 1993
Reluctantly for auction is my 1993 3XV-SP project. This is a genuine ?ˆ™93 SP. arguably the best specification made and includes many extras as standard over a non-SP. I have owned this bike for over 12 years and started restoring / rebuilding it to the very highest standard about 8 years ago. As you can see this is a no-expense spared build.
The SP differs from a standard 3XV as follows.
Stiffer swing-arm with billet adjusters.
41mm fully adjustable forks.
Adjustable rear shock.
SP spec barrels. Power-valves and O-ring heads (intended to give much more power in unrestricted form)
Close ratio gearbox.
Dry clutch.
36mm Flat slide carbs.
Larger radiator.
Lighter wheels with captive spacers.
This is a very rare bike (only 500 a year were made in the early 90?ˆ™s) and rarer still with all the above included. This is a nearly completed restoration project that has been built to the very highest standard as follows -
Fully rebuilt engine -
Vapour blasted cases. barrels etc.
Ported and matched barrels and power-valves
Newly Nickasealed and re-honed bores.
Rebuilt crank with all new bearings. rods seals and new genuine Yamaha pistons and rings
All new bearings seals and gaskets throughout. All gaskets / O-rings / New spark plugs etc. to finish.
Frame ?ˆ“
Powdercoated black. New bearings throughout.
Swing arm ?ˆ“
Additional bracing and subtly modified to accept Harrison billet rear caliper. One off caliper carrier. Powder coated black to match the frame. Rebuilt shock with yellow powder-coated spring.
Forks ?ˆ“
Hard chromed. re-ground and DLC coated stanchions. Powder-coated bottoms. Black anodised outers.
Wheels ?ˆ“
Castings cleaned up and powder-coated. New bearings throughout. Captive wheel spacers re-made in stainless. New Dunlop GPR70 tyres fitted. Front brake discs stripped and rumbled. centres re-anodised black and rebuilt with Titanium buttons. Rear disc extensively lightened. Renthal sprocket.
Other parts -
New Billet rearset footrests (originals included)
New Carbon front and rear mudguards (originals included)
Billet clip-ons (originals included)
New Harris Fuel cap included.
Very rare 3XV-80 race-kit CDi included. This is the only way to guarantee full power from a 3XV-SP. If you can find another one of these I would be amazed!!
Front brake calipers stripped. powder-coated and rebuilt with new seals and 1 off titanium pistons (Ti nitrided for durability)
Exhausts -
Made to measure?ˆ™ Martin Johnston?ˆ™ hydro-formed expansion chambers (unused and require painting)
New Carbon cans (need fitting)
Bodywork ?ˆ“
All genuine ?ˆ?SP?ˆ™ parts. All useable but really requires some minor repairs / painting to finish off to the same standard as the rest of the bike.
Loads of other nicely thought out touches including Titanium nuts and bolts etc. Nickel plated brackets. bolts and water pipes etc
Also included in sale ?ˆ“
Spare top fairing in primer
Harris Stainless steel paddock stand
Original exhausts
Yamaha Workshop manual (a photocopy obtained from Japan)
Radial front Master cylinder (needs rebuilding. but all parts included)
Required to finish the project ?ˆ“
Fuel tank needs flushing out and maybe painting
Carbs need a clean and fitting
Loom not fitted
Radiator . hoses etc. need fitting.
Heads have not been fitted (I was planning on measuring and optimising squish before final fitting.
Clutch needs fitting.
Brake hoses need to be made to measure and fitted.
Plus a few other minor bits and bobs. Pretty much everything required is included with the bike.
Contact me to arrange viewing or if you require additional photos or information. Currently SORNed.
Cash on collection only. No silly offers please.
So there you have it. I don't really want to let it go. but I'm never going to get around to finishing it. This is surely destined to be the greatest 3XV build ever for someone!
