Description

YAMAHA XS250 1979 Absolutely superb condition. Fully restored and rebuilt. MOT'd until April 2015. The photo's have tried to do the bike justice - It is even better in the flesh!!Only one former keeper. V5 Present. Full restoration completed and documented via a photo diary of approx 400pictures (Will come with the bike and confirms all the details below)This bike covered 8. 00miles during 1979 to 1981 at which point it was taken off the road and sat untouched for 32years. It was in a sorry state indeed. The full restoration completed in early 2014 consisted of:Blasted frame and swing-arm - Newly Powder coated. All metal surfaces / engine and components restored and painted to a high standard. All new bearings / bushes / seals throughout - Internal & External. Any component that was not working was replaced or refurbished to 'as new' standard. Re-bore with new pistons. rings etc. Replacement Forks - New seals. bushes oil etc. Discs replaced. brakes re-furbished with new pistons pads. shoes etcWheels blasted and re-painted with new tyres. Engine underwent a complete and full strip down re-furbish and rebuild. Some of the original fasteners that were not available are showing a little surface rust. as are some very minor surface specs on the exhaust cans - These are the only cosmetic defects on the bike. Seat reupholstered with an original cover. seat pan stripped and painted. The bike is in as new condition and has completed approx 5 miles since the restoration was completed. All electrical components replaced or refurbished. The fuel system (Taps. Pipes & Carbs) was replaced. Loads of spare parts will come with the bike (Wheels. Forks. Exhaust Down Pipes. Engine Cases. Clocks. Bars. Carbs the list goes on and on)I purchased the bike at the end of 2013 when the restoration had just been completed by a chap who lives down the road (Hereford) in the aim to change the style to a period cafe racer. It took me a few months to April 2014 to get it looking as good as it does now - Ace Bars. Chequer & 59 Club Decals. Exhaust Wrap etc etc. getting it ready for Dry Summer Use Only. I took it for its first MOT in 33years in April 2014 and it sailed straight through. no advisories. in full working order. It was starting. riding with no running issues. At this point. the bike developed a smoke in the exhaust gases from the No1 piston when running. showing it maybe burning some oil. This is when I stuck the bike back in the garage to wait for me to find the culprit. I haven't even taxed the bike yet or ridden the bike properly on a run. Only to the MOT station and back. I did not want to ride the bike until it was all 100%. It has sat there since April and due to a Triumph Speed Triple. a Honda Fireblade. a pair of 1yr old baby twins. an 11yr old daughter. a wife and a full time job teaching. I have not found anywhere near enough time to get the job done. I am being completely honest about the state of the bike - To prove this please click on the link to see the bike running this week on Wednesday 1st Oct 2014 (It started in under a minute despite the fact that it hadn't run in 4 months) - You can see the smoke coming from the LH exhaust - To be honest it is not even a blue tint. so may be a rich fueling / LH carb  issue£ - But at this stage of my life I don't have the time to carry out time consuming fault diagnosis.  https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=TZOMmZc_BPQThis is why I have decided that I am kidding myself that I will have enough time to get stuck in and pull the engine out  / carbs off and solve the issue.  So. I have made the very reluctant decision to sell the bike on if I can get the right price. It is advertised on Ebay and also locally so I do reserve the right to finish the auction at any time if I have a buyer at a higher price. If you require any further info. please do email me. I will answer any questions.  If you want to come and see the bike I actually encourage it as you will see the quality of the build and also hear the engine running smoothly / sweetly as a nut. It is just a shame this smoking has started. Be under no illusion. this is like buying a brand new bike. everything is in amazing 'as new' condition. it has never been ridden. it has in effect zero miles on the clock. It is just a shame I cannot find the time to finish it off and get it running like it deserves. Good Luck and happy bidding. A 'No Reserve' auction to see what I can raise on this amazing bike. Please get in touch. The bike will need to be collected and transported away on a trailer / in a van within 7 days of auction end.  £200 deposit to be paid with 24hrs of auction end. cash balance to be paid on collection.
