Description

RD400F UK Matching Numbers. 1 key fits all locks and comes with the 2 original Yamaha keys. this bike is being sold as a project. however. the bike runs lovely and the vast majority of electrics work. the brakes don't. they need some attention. the exhausts are are in lovely condition with only a few minor dings on the right hand side silencer. but not really noticeable. the down pipes are perfect. The chrome on the front mudguard is pitted. the chrome on the forks is pitted (see photo 11). but they will rechrome without issue. the tyres are good but old. the brake pads look good. the seat base is the original metal one. but the cover is done. the rear mudguard is a plastic one and red. both stands are present and the indicators look to be the original ones. as is the headlight which all work. The engine has had the crank refurbished. see photo 10. and has had a rebore. see photo 9 and is now on 0. 75mm O/S. this work was done before I got the bike. so I can't say who did it. but I have checked it and the information I was given is correct (photo's above show this). the airbox has been removed but comes with the bike. The current carbs on the bike are not the originals. I fitted these to get it running. nbsp; the original carbs do come with the bike but need overhauling/refurbing. I will leave the current carbs on the bike so people can hear it running. The battery is a new one and will come with the bike. the wiring loom appears to be in very good condition as is the fuse box. The tank is clean inside but I have noticed underneath near one rear corner what appears to be some glue/resin which I am assuming is to seal a leak. but its not much. I have not put any fuel in the tank as I think it probably wants a good clean out anyway (run the bike off a remote fuel tank) the paint work has certainly seen better days and the pictures flatter it. its not that good honest. the side panels are both good and not broken in anyway. again they need painting. the seat strips are missing. but the rear seat cowl is present. the frame has been painted red (badly) but all looks good. Clearly I have not ridden the bike in any shape or form as the brakes don't work etc and I don't have time to sort them. besides its being sold as a project. This is an excellent and rare opportunity to purchase one of the 70s/80s classic bikes and with the desirable UK matching numbers 1 key fits all (with original 2 Yamaha keys). and will make a great winter project as it is virtually all there from what I can tell. I have tried to describe the bike as honestly as I can. but to avoid any disappointment I strongly suggest coming to view it. your welcome anytime next week as I am on holiday. I can also deliver within a 50 mile radius of YO17 for the cost of the diesel (there and back) and a pint ! - well it can be thirsty workJust to re-iterate. this bike is being sold as a project. don't expect to turn up and ride it home. you could try but would probably kill yourself at the first corner as the brakes aren't working !The reserve is set at what it owes me. once that is met. the bike will sell for whatever it makes. so good luckTerms of settlement are strictly cash on collection or bank transfer. definately NO PAYPAL. the bike will not be released until funds have clearedThe V5 is present and will be signed over to the new owner on completion of the saleAny questions. please feel free to ask or call me on 07881 812660 (but not at midnight or before 8am !)
