Hello and welcome to the sale of my 2006 YFZ450. This quad has truly been my pride and joy for the last year and has been maintained flawlessly. This was the sister bike built. by ATV world in Leeds. in a reverse colour scheme to John Mitchells 2006 championship bike. This was his practise bike. I know many quads have been built in the same colour scheme but this is the real deal as you can tell by the attention to detail and the plethora of aftermarket parts included. I have decided to sell the quad in order to raise the funds to move over to ?ˆ?the dark side?ˆ?. two wheels!
Last winter the bike was completely stripped down and re-powder coated as well as having almost all wearing parts changed. even an entire new front left ?ˆ?T-pin?ˆ? upright from Laegers at the cost of £400. The bearings in the right hand upright were also changed as well as the A arm bushings. the rear axle bearings. the rear wheel hubs from Lonestar. most of the fastening hardware on the entire bike. nbsp; the spherical bearings in the front shock eyes. gear change shaft + ?ˆ?stopper?ˆ? plate. gear change lever. front and rear sprocket + chain. water pump seals and new graphics printed in the original design. I also made a time lapse video as evidence of this rebuild which can be viewed here:

Since this rebuild I have raced the bike in the novice class with Dragon Quad racing at 6 out of the seven rounds and had great fun. Between the 3 hour races the quad was probably used for less than an hour each time. Before every outing the oil and oil filter were changed with Castrol power 1 racing fully synthetic 10w-40. the chain was lubed. the air filter was cleaned + oiled and all bearings were greased.
During the 4th round of racing at Welshpool I noticed a small grating noise coming from the engine and retired an hour in. It turns out the cam chain that had been replaced last year had worn the rear cam chain guide too far and was causing the noise. During the gap between the 4th and 5th rounds the engine was completely stripped. the cylinder was sent to Langcourt for replating. the head was inspected and the engine was reassembled with a 12. 75:1 CP high comp piston. Cometic gasket kit. a new cam chain and cam chain guides. This cost £450 from ATV world. I have all receipts and can even supply the old piston and box with all the paper work. The engine was put through 3 heat cycles then ridden for 6 sessions of 10 minutes of increasing intensity allowing cooling to ambient temperature between each. this was done with Millers running in oil to ensure the rings bed in on the freshly plated and honed cylinder walls. After this process the oil and oil filter were changed. The engine now runs very well with plenty of power. I have never had the power of the engine measured but after the original build by ATV world it is claimed it was 64 horse power.

You really do not want to think about how much money it would be to build a new bike of this calibre.
Now for the few bad points that I want to be completely honest about:
The tyres. both the rear sets. are pretty worn and blunt. they are fine in dry conditions but don?ˆ™t bite great in the wet.
The front left fender was badly cracked after the 1st round of racing this year. it was repaired well with epoxy and bits of plastic. the repair has lasted for all the rest of this season and is showing no signs of failing. the only problem is that it?ˆ™s a little ugly if you look under it.
There is a dent in the exhaust end can. performance is completely unaffected.
The entire bike cosmetically shows a few signs of wear. there are quite a few chips in the powder coat already.
The kick start is pretty floppy and tends to fly out when your cornering. it is only a backup that is rarely used so is usually cable tied in so that it can be snapped out if needed.
The rear brake pads will need changing soon. they perform well but don?ˆ™t have much meat left on them.
If the quad goes for my asking price or a very near offer I also have an array of spare parts that could be included in the sale:
A pair of DWT bead lock MX size wheels with ITP holeshot tyres
A standard fuel tank and tank cover with graphics
Spare sponsors stickers
