Description

I have just taken a few early photographs of this Yamaha 900 Diversion which is the next one I will be putting on the workbench to strip and go through. If you have seen some of my previous listings of Diversions over the years you will already know I strip them back to more or less engine sat in frame to go right over the bike if I think that is what is needed. The plan on this 9 is to remove the body work. exhaust system. brakes. wheels. swing arm. suspension and so on and also to give the bike a full service . ll filters. luids etc as work progresses and polish the bike in all the hard to get at places whilst apart. So. as I have done many times before. I will be adding photo's to this listing as the bike gets stripped back as the work gets started in a week or two from now. A bit about this particular Diversion 900. It has had one owner from new before me. The current mileage is just over 2000 miles (I think it is actually 2100 miles). It is a 1998 R registration and was UK supplied from new by a main Yamaha agent. The colour is factory metallic burgundy. Although it is very low mileage for a Diversion 9 I think it is best to do the above work as it has obviously been stood garaged for long periods. August 1st and the bike is now as you see it in picture 6 which is more or less just engine in frame. That is as far down as I am going to go with it. Checking all the loom and connections while the bike is at this stage then it is on with polishing in the nooks and crannies and. as said. giving the bike a total service as it comes back together. So. watch this space if there is nothing on the telly!!If your new to the model then go on line. here are many comments on what a reliable. omfortable all rounder the Diversion 9 is. If you want to know anything about the bike drop me an email or call (landline usually best) and I can give you more information on it and how it's coming along. Last few pictures coming on now (20th August). bike has had around 130 hours on the bench. hought whilst apart might as well strip rear shock for spring powder coating. wing arm. main and side stand also. iscs off wheels to polish behind and fit new bolts etc.   Will be running in over the next week or two and checking all before new MOT.  Will take a couple of pictures when out on the bike to finish. I didn't find any wear on the bike while carrying out the above work but at this mileage i wasn't expecting to. or example the original front discs when a Diversion 9 was new were 4mm thick. hey are still 4mm exact.           Won't be happy unless this 9 runs totally right. when a Diversion 9 has done 15/20. 00 miles the suspension settles down as the springs in the front compress and the rear shock looses its damping.  Had a chance now to do a few dry miles. the bike still rides what i call "high" as a Diversion 9 did when new.    Please see "sellers other items" if you like the Yamaha Diversion models or see below for Diversion spares or accessories. Diversion BIKE DELIVERY AVAILABLE ANYWHERE IN THE UK AT VERY REASONABLE RATEIf you want to see some of the previous work/restorations I have done on the older model 600 and 900 Diversions over the years click on the following link http://www. flickr. com/photos/allthingsdiversion The pictures in the "new build" set on the above link are of a red 900 Diversion that I assembled around a new engine which was bought last year after it had been stored in a Yamaha dealers for getting on 20 years in it's original crate. Built the bike up from a dark blue 900 Diversion frame that was powder coated in candy red. ad the wheels powder coated in graphite metallic grey and the dark blue body kit repainted to match. itted full new original exhaust system.  Decided to uprated this particular bike from standard with R1 front brake callipers/ fully adjustable rear suspension unit/ EBC brake discs and braided brake lines  just to make a Diversion 900 a bit more modern but not too far from the bike many of us have enjoyed over the years.  All Diversion 600 and 900 service and repair work carried out on customers bikes with collection and delivery available.   All sorts of spares new and used in for the 600 and 900 Diversion.
