2006 Yamaha YBR125 spares or repairs. project. category c write off. no reserve
Welcome to the auction of a Yamaha YBR125.
We purchased this bike on behalf of my stepson in 2012. It comes with quite a lot of receipts. history. etc. even the original completed pre-delivery inspection checklist. We bought it from a mature owner who said that he had watched the Isle of Man TT and decided to go for a motorbike licence. but having bought the bike he had then lost interest and it had remained in his garage. This accounts for the low mileage between 2010 and 2012 as described below. We purchased it from him without an MOT and put it back on the road in 2012.
My stepson used it for around a year before a car pulled out in front of him in the summer of 2013 and he went over the bonnet. It was declared a category c write off and he purchased the salvage from the insurance company. My wife then bought it off him with a view to me repairing the bike and putting it back on the road. It has languished in the garage ever since and frankly I am never going to have the time to do it.
The forks are bent. the brake lever is bent. one of the front indicators is snapped. some of the panels are broken. Also. the engine hasn?ˆ™t run since the accident. I have had a quick look and it appears electrical because I can?ˆ™t get a consistent spark. I think this is likely to be the EMC. the rubber retaining strap looks like it may have broken in the impact and the EMC was flung around and took a knock? I don?ˆ™t have a spare EMC to check this and frankly I don?ˆ™t want to get stuck into further investigatory work as once I?ˆ™ve started spending time and money I?ˆ™m not going to know when to stop! However. the engine turns over and was running fine up until the accident. so I can?ˆ™t see it being anything major.
Overall. the bike was a little on the tatty side even prior to the accident. so there is work to do aside from the accident damage. Also. the chain has broken when I accidentally damaged it in the garage.
Please note that the petrol tank is separate from the bike. where I took it off to briefly look at the electrics.
On the plus side. the bike was running fine up until the accident. The gearbox was also perfect. However. the starter motor was noisy and probably needs replacing.
A new rear tyre was fitted around 3 days before the accident. This has 6mm of tread. the front tyre appears okay despite the accident and has 3mm tread.
New clocks were fitted around 1000 miles before the accident and these weren?ˆ™t damaged.
The mileage records on the MOTs are-
11/2009 17130
11/2010 19359
03/2012 19392
03/2013 51
The reason for the change between 2012 and 2013 is that the clocks were changed at that point. My stepson has a note that the mileage was 24000 at that point. The clock now reads 1021. so it?ˆ™s now done around 25000 miles overall.
Frankly. it you want a smart looking YBR125. I would say it is probably doubtful that this is economic to repair. On the other hand. it might well be possible to get it back on the road fairly cheaply. it you don?ˆ™t mind the fact it will still look fairly tatty. Alternatively. it must have some value for parts.
Being a category C write off. you will obviously need to ensure you meet the formalities if you do intend to put it back on the road. We have the V5 and the bike is currently SORNed.
I am selling with no reserve. so it will sell to the top bidder. however much that will be.
You are welcome to come and view before bidding.
If you bid. you bid to buy. Non-paying bidders will be reported.
Payment by cash on collection please.
Collection within 7 days of the auction ending please. The bike is in Ashford Kent and for the avoidance of any doubt (!) this bike does not currently work and will need to be taken in a large car/ van or on a trailer!
