Better Than New 1978 Yamaha XS750 Cafe Racer

Up for sale is a one-of-a-kind Yamaha XS750 custom motorcycle.   This is the first custom built by San Francisco?ˆ™s new custom motorcycle builder. Dapper Rat Custom Motorcycles. making it especially valuable to collectors.   Although this bike is built to show-quality. it is not intended to be parked and admired.   It is meant to be ridden (and admired).  This bike build is in the final stages of completion. and will be ready for delivery at the end of November.

Every part of this bike has been cleaned. refurbished. and or replaced with new parts.   Here is a list of the modifications:

The engine. originally 750cc was bored out to 850cc with later-model XS850 pistons and rings.  The engine was painted black using VHT (Very High Temperature) paint. New heat-wrapped 3-into-1 exhaust header with stainless reverse megaphone muffler. The frame. swing-arm. and brackets were de-tabbed where needed and professionally bead-blasted and powder coated 60% flat black. The wheels were bead blasted and powder coated 60% flat black and all bearings replaced with stainless-steel sealed bearings. The forks and triple trees were replaced with fully overhauled and polished 41mm 1988 FZR1000 units. Custom made fork brace. The front disk brakes were upgraded to new 320mm EBC rotors with rebuilt Brembo calipers and new brake pads and brake lines. Rebuilt Brembo Ducati 916 front brake master cylinder. Motogadget Chronoclassic tachometer/speedometer with custom stainless steel mounting bracketStock XS750 headlight with new brackets and low-profile turn signals. New Woodcraft clip-on handlebars with new switches and controls. New caf?© racer seat with metal tail coverTank fully cleaned and tank/tail section repainted crimson red with honey-gold pin striping. New hand-built custom wiring harness using high-temperature. chemical resistant wire and high-temperature sleeving. Wireless front wheel speed sensor (no cables to the front wheel). Configurable electronic ignition unit. New tires and tubes.

This bike is currently being built and will be complete in late November/early December.

About the Yamaha XS750

The Yamaha XS750 was the flagship street motorcycle when it was first released in 1976.   Yamaha built it to compete with Honda?ˆ™s dominant CB750.   Rather than copying the CB750. Yamaha tried to do something different. building a 3-cylinder air-cooled bike with shaft-drive for low-maintenance.
