Yamaha FZR 600 for sale with streetfighter / rat bike conversion.
The bike rides fantastically. engine's quiet without nasty knocks or rattles and it'll rev through the roof quite happily. and the Speedo will be following suit! Handling's excellent too. good recent new tyres and brakes with plenty of life left. suspension performs well. The low centre of gravity from the compact engine arrangement and fuel tank sunk within the frame has the front tyre railing through corners. Fantastically designed bike. can't beat the Japanese engineering and great fun!
I've riden 3000+ miles on the bike since finishing doing a fair bit of work after purchasing it. nbsp;including Sheffield to Devon in torrential rain whilst fighting Glastonbury traffic. and it's never let me down or caused any concerns.
I bought this bike last February with a number of electrical issues that these models were prone to. In fixing them I've replaced the ac/dc converter. an ignition coil and the igniter unit (the cdi. electrical brain or whatever its generally known as). I've also rewired the main ignition and replaced any dodgy connectors with proper ones for outdoor purposes (there were some screw blocks when I bought it!) and everything's well sealed up against the weather.
Also replaced both tyres and all brake pads. New genuine airbox. new air filter. new oil filter and recent oil change. New NGK spark plug connectors and spark plugs. The chain and sprockets have got plenty of life left. and the chain's a good quality sealed type that has barely stretched in use.
The fairing had been cut down to make it a naked streetfighter when I bought it. I bought some xjr top yokes with proper cast-in bar clamps to fit motox riser bars. Bar raisers are fitted. so that the front end can be lowered right down to its designed height (as it would be with original clip-on bars) to preserve the excellent handling. I've fitted a smaller front sprocket which boost acceleration and gives extra front end lift when asked for. I've fitted LED tail lights for better visibility.
The black paint job from the previous owner is. scruffy to say the least -but it's perfect for my needs. There are scuffs and flakes off here and there but the bike looks like nothing worthwhile to thieves (important as I keep it under cover. but roadside in Sheffield). but it runs and rides great to the point of showing fancy new bikes up. It also looks mean. which is nice.
Starts easily cold. takes a few more cranks when warm but has never left me down. Once running it performs great. on start up the carbs suggest they could benefit from a clean -but I wouldn't bother until an actual problem arises. I'd doubt the crabs are balanced with the Bike's age. but again it doesn't bother me. nbsp;it proves itself in the riding.
The fuel tap's stiff. so I just leave it on reserve and top up by mileage. I've bought a seal kit which I'll give to the winning bidder. There's heated grips fitted but I've taken out the wiring for them as I'm not into them. I'll supply this in case they wish to be reconnected.
Remember this bike is old. so expectations should be matched to this. It's not tidy or showy. but mechanically it performs well and I say you get that direct feel from old bikes unmatched by new ones. I'm selling as I'm planning to move away and can't take it unfortunately. but I've enjoyed the summer's riding. as you might tell.
Tax runs out 31st November (not sure if its transferable now?) but it's on a tax disk. not new paperless type. I can deliver at petrol cost + train home to Sheffield. Any questions let me know. happy bidding!
