Description

1990 Full Power Yamaha VMAX

This is an import version from the states. 1998 first UK registration.

If you've found your way onto this listing than you already have an idea of what this Motorbike is about.

This is truly a reluctant sale. but due to health issues I can no longer ride bikes!! Very gutted but unfortunately have had my warning.

Have owned this bike since 2011. and here is a list of mods / upgrades / Mechanical repairs that I've done since ownership:

New starter clutch. and gear.

New water pump along with mechanical seal. and oil seal.

New carb rubbers X4 Carbs Synched 2014

Clutch slave cylinder complete unit.

Odyssey PC680CCA Battery. This battery is highly recommended as it protects the starter clutch. The V4's are difficult to start. So though they are expensive its worth it.

X4 Silicone Red HT Leads with new Black caps.

Upgraded forks from 1994 model 2014

Upgraded forks has allowed for 4 pot caliper's to be installed finished in MATT black.  Calipers serviced. and new pads installed 2014

Larger Drilled rotors for improved braking.

Braided brake lines front + Back

New fork seals + Oil.

Light switch installed.

Vboost override switch. Switchable from standard 6K to 3K or can be switched off completely.

Cooling fan override switch

OEM airbox removed. and pod filters installed. Carbs balanced to compensate mixture change.

Laser Jama slip on exhaust. (Unfortunately the right side pipe does have a scrape on the end) Please see picture.

New stainless steel front pipes complete system.

LED indicators.

Stubby rear mudguard (Makes the bike look so much better) 2014

New chrome OEM mirrors 2014

Larger rear tyre for better handling. 170-80-15 No washer swap required for this mod. I do have another near enough new Dunlop 150-80-15 which I'll throw in as part of the sale.

July 2014 gave the bike a Full service. New plugs. Oil filter / Oil. Fuel filter changed. coolant power flushed and filled with 50/50 mix.

Since owning this bike I have always changed the diff (Shaft) oil every 6 months. The Haynes book of lies recommends this. But for me it was purely down to the nature of this machine. and since it only takes 10 minutes to do. its really worth doing.

Have also repainted the engine MATT black. The same as the last few models of Gen 1 Vmax.

Polished Clutch. Brake master cylinder covers with Vmax inscribed

Chrome Vmax Radiator cover.

Chrome Vmax infill's on the dummy intake covers.

Cheeky Yamaha Plate. with Mad Max written at the bottom.

According to the previous owner. this bike had some engine work carried out which involved larger pistons and barrels to make this a 1400cc Vmax. This is completely unconfirmed. but having owned this bike for 3 years and ridden some quick machines. this bike is hectic and nothing ive personally ridden can touch this bike. And others who have ridden have said similar.

Never got round to Dyno testing the bike but it would be interesting to see.

There are few cosmetics issues which are:

A drilled hole in the top part of the front head light.

A drilled hole in the left hand front infill cover.

A couple of small holes where somebody installed a helmet lock in the bottom part of the rear sub frame.

The switchgear white lettering and the red switches are showing there age a little. but its never really bothered me.

The paint work is in good condition but there is a small patch of bubbling on the dummy tank. and some rubbing wear on the front mudguard.

This a very honest machine. and its not completely perfect. But it certainly looks the part. and it will leave plenty of brown stains in you're trousers that's for sure.

The engine is mechanically sound. and other than the above repairs which have been carried out. its never let me down. and starts on the button every single time.

Think I've covered everything. if you wish to come view the bike. im located in Fareham. Call me for more info on 07917641755
