This much sought after iconic 1979 Yamaha XT500F Enduro has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to machinery than ours. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike is not complete missing the mirrors & indicators. The bike has obviously stood a while so the carburetor is stuck. tyres are perished & battery is flat. Sadly the handle bars are bent. side panels are cracked. front brake lever is broken. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. The bike is every bit as solid as it looks here. The wheels are straight with alloy rims. good hubs & brake plates. Forks & yokes look straight. Mudguards are both solid. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments look ok. Alloy fuel tank is squeaky clean inside and has just minor marks & scratches in the original paint. Exhaust system is original & solid. The engine is cosmetically very clean for the nature of the beast. it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great & has compression – When we hooked it up to a good battery. fed it a few squirts of ether & got one of our young apes to jump on the kick starter it fires & tries to run but the carb does need cleaning. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated.

We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of title but we will provide proof that the VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT’d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model. frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age.

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Send all this paper work to the DVLA. who will charge you ?55 for the 1st registration & the current amount for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
