This very rare and charming little 1983 Yamaha RX50 Midnight special has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to machinery than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 8954 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. These bikes were only made for 2 years & initially were given to Yamaha dealers throughout USA to raffle off to get the American public in the showrooms & looking at bigger bikes. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike is very not complete missing the Side panels. boot lid. mirrors. indicators. airbox. battery & the end off the front brake lever. Sadly the tank is dented. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. The bike is every bit as solid as it looks here. The wheels are straight with nice clean chrome rims. good hubs. brake plate. disc. caliper & working master cylinder. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look great. Fuel tank is squeaky clean inside. Carburetor is free sliding off the twist grip. Exhaust is original & solid. Seat is in very good condition throughout. Chain guard is tidy. Shox are damping fine. The engine is cosmetically clean. it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great & has compression – When we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it a few squirts of ether it starts & runs.

The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated.

We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of title but we will provide proof that the VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT’d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model. frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age.

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Send all this paper work to the DVLA. who will charge you ?55 for the 1st registration & the current amount for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
