Yamaha Dragstar bobber, cafe racer xvs 650

As the song says. "enjoy yourself. it's later than you think" what are you waiting for. you need this bike. cash in your under performing isa. sell a kidney. spend the kids university fund. what ever it takes. This is a really nice example of the Dragstar. only 2 previous owners and 9300 miles. Although spring isn't that far away this is going to be a winter bargain and a chance for someone to get hold of one of these unstressed over engineered bits of genius. I cannot tell you how reliable these engines are. google it and see for yourself. This one is a bit of a Bobber with a hint of cafe racer. the bars are clubman cafe racers. and give a really nice low overall profile to the bike. the riding position is leant forward. I rode this for 50 miles the other day and it was very comfortable. I can fit brand new 36" wide bars if you would prefer the more upright style.

I love the look of this bike. I think it has a real 50's look. without the associated problems of classics. like breakdowns and constant tinkering. This is a turn the key. fire it up. start grinning and off you go bike.

The Bobber kit consists of the single seat conversion hardware . specifically made for the Dragstar. the best leather seat you can get in both quality and comfort. I've seen loads of these types of seats and these are simply the best you can get. high quality foam means the seat won't sag or deform. the leather just looks better with age. A Ford 1932 retro brake light with super bright LED's. side mounted number plate holder. made for this specific bike not an Ebay special fits everything badly from good old China. The kit looks like it left the yamaha factory with it fitted. if you want to see bad versions check the other stuff on ebay. cobbled from bits of scrap metal found in the bottom of someone's shed. this is the real deal. It looks even better in the flesh I assure you.  

Overall very nice condition. the tank paint work is excellent as are the panels. the frame is rust free and in excellent order. the chrome work is very good on the casings . hey have the odd blemish but nothing glaringly obvious but needs to be mentioned in case your as fussy as me. check the photos. they are so minor it is hard to show. Chrome work on the wheels. as per the photos is very good. yokes and forks are also very good order.

Has all the previous mots and sorn paperwork and some service paperwork. but this bike has clearly been cherished. and it is obvious that it has spent most of its life being pampered. they are not the sort of bikes that people do not take care of. they are normally old boys who love and cosset them with regular servicing and spend more time polishing them than riding.  This is defiantly the case with this bike as the old boy i brought it from had owned it for 13 years and had hardly used it and it was literally wheeled out from his heated garage. When I changed the oil the other week it was clear and clean. always a good sign. it has just been serviced with a new oil filter. nbsp; high quality motorbike specific oil. new air filter. fuel filter. new front brake pads. new brake fluid and new shaft oil. All ready for the spring or now if your feeling brave.

The bike runs and drives as one would expect. no crunches or smoke or anything untoward. it pulls like a train and stops and rides perfectly.

As mentioned before. the bobber kit is purely aesthetic. no changes have been made to the frame or set up. it is all Dragstar. and as such you get a great. bullet proof bike that if you service it every year will just go on and on. It also rides like a cruiser. Dragstars are so well balanced. they turn in and ride so smoothly they are awesome. More than enough power and torque for this style of bike they have plenty of grunt and a surprising turn of speed.

The Bobber kit gives the appearance of a hardtail but it still retains the mono shock so is super comfortable. plus the seat is sprung for a bit of added relief. I've got a hard tail they are just not designed for England's pot holed roads. not unless you want ruptured kidneys and chipped teeth.

The pipes are almost brand new Jardines. recently wrapped in expensive uk made titanium wrap. not cheap nasty Chinese rubbish. They sound absolutely awesome. you will start this bike just to listen to it. your neighbours will also love it. particularly late at night and early in the morning.

Both tyres are excellent.

It has a slight whine in 5th gear at 50 mph. but this is very common in early dragstars . google it. its do do with the type of straight cut gears. which prevents premature wear but has a whine only in top gear. it has been like this since new and i also have a dragster with 36000 miles on it that has the same noise for the last 5 years.

Obviously the bike is finance free and HPI clear.

This bike gets a lot of attention. people in traffic. asking what it is and where they can get one . e prepared as it to take ages to get anywhere.

The bike will also come with a front and rear hugger for MOT purposes as they will not pass without them.

I can have a new MOT put on at the winners expense should you wish. the current one expires in May2015.
