Description

Hi. this is my 1973 DT175A. American import. hence the condition. It has 1944 miles on the clock. looking around the bike at the items that usually show wear and tear. I honestly believe that it is correct. Look for yourself at the grips. clocks. levers etc. Also it is still on its original tyres. which incredibly have not cracked and still offer good grip. (The rev counter loks a bit out of shape but its fine. I didn't seat the rubber round it correctly) I have ridden the bike for a couple of miles locally. it pulls very strongly. It kicks up first or second kick every time. no rattles or funny noises. ticks over nicely. in fact it runs very well. I bought it for some summer fun but plans have changed a little and I now want to do some touring. I have just bought a mint CBR1000F so this needs to go. In my ownership I have replaced the rear indicator lenses for the correct colour. changed the gearbox oil. fitted new front fork seals and oil. new battery. new rear footrests (these were missing). New NGK plugs (two plug head. to swap over easily if the plug whiskers). The carb to airbox rubber was missing but I managed to locate a brand new genuine Yamaha one in America. and fitted it with new correct style stainless clips. I ultrasonically cleaned the carb. stripped the fuel tap and fitted a new Viton seal. fitted an inline fuel filter. lubed the cables. freed the clutch. (it had seized through standing) given it a good clean and once over. It is now ready for its MOT. The lights. horn. indicators. brake lights (front and rear) all work correctly. I can see no reason at all for it to fail. It has had three owners in America. according to the paperwork. first one from 1974 to 1977. next from 1977 to 1996. next from 1996 til present day. when it was imported here (Sept 2014) The buyer will be the next owner. not bad. 3 owners in 41 years!I have American certificates of title for the 2nd and 3rd owners (log books to us). when no. 3 bought it in 1996 it had 1937 miles on the clock. I believe he never used it. just put it into storage. It now has 1944 miles and I must have done 5 of those. It is very simple to get a UK registration as its on the Nova system. I have the HM Revenue and customs paperwork to prove. ALL you need to do is MOT it. insure it on the frame number. and pay DVLA ?55 plus 1 years road tax. and thats it. The only reason I haven't done it is because my insurance will only allow 4 bikes on the policy and I already have four. The bike was manufactured in 1973 and registered in 1974. so you could get a 73 plate if you wanted. I believe it will be tax exempt anyway. The bike also comes with its original owners manual. warranty guide book. he Yamaha clear plastic wallet to keep them in. both original keys. and original Yamaha fob. I don't think there can be many around in this condition. it has the patina of age which is to be expected. don't expect a new bike. it is totally original and ready to ride. I would hate to restore it. a bike is only original once. Bad points. not much really. the handlebars are slightly bent. the clutch can be made to slip under provocation but I think this will sort itself with use. as stated earlier the clutch needed freeing off and now the plates need to settle in again. The seat cover has a small repair at the side. TINY dink in the tank. smaller than a 5p piece. I might take a PX or even a swap for something interesting. try me. I am 1 min from J23 M1 LEICS (SHEPSHED) OPEN TO SENSIBLE OFFERS. SILLY ONES WILL BE IGNORED. THANKS.
