Description
Restored to original BSA Thunderbolt
I have been in love with British motorcycles since hanging out as a kid with a friend whose dad owned a local motorcycle sales and service shop. As a teenager I had a Ducati but always longed for a big British twin. Upon return from the service in Germany, began restoring and collecting British cars until an opportunity presented itself to purchase 2 unrestored and poorly maintained BSA’s…..a 650 twin carb Lightning and a damaged 650 single carb Thunderbolt. The back story of these bikes is very interesting and has been a subject of numerous articles by local British bike clubs. I offer the BSA Thunderbolt here. This was a frame off restoration of a matching number motorcycle begun in 2006 and completed in 2008. Everything has been put back to factory original with NOS, uality remanufactured parts from England or restored original parts. This award winning bike has fresh chrome fenders, nd headlamp bucket; a refurbished electrical system with a new wiring harness, ucas headlamp and rebuilt horn. It also has new tires on chrome rims that could use a polish. This bike has rebuilt Amal 928 carburetors and fuel lines. The motor had been rebuilt when I purchased it. I lapped the valves and fired it up in 2008 but, ince I have several British cars that share summer driving duties, his bike rarely gets used……..sadly less than 500 miles since 2008. This bike Is well cared for and has always been garaged and covered when not in use. I have kept meticulous written and photographic records and can provide further details on the extensive work it took to get this bike to where it is…..just ask. Also published at eBay.com
