Ducati 748. 1999. low reserve

1999 Ducati 748 Biposto. Registered as yellow but currently has red bodywork.

V5 in my name with only 15. 29 miles on the clock.

I’ve decided to sell what was supposed to be my winter project. My intention was to do the work needed to make this into a nice little track bike for this summer. It was a bit of a “Garage Find” last year as it had been sat around for a few years. Since I collected it. to my shame and embarrassment. it has been sat waiting for me to get started on it but time just hasn’t been available for me.

It has a few nice bits on it like :

Oberon brake fluid reservoir cover

TecMoto clutch slave cylinder

TecMoto open clutch cover

Polished wheels

Carbon front mudguard

Carbon rear hugger

“Black” Ducati exhaust (not standard?). Not sure if they are Race ones. But more like grey than black.

I also have standard exhausts and a load of spare fairings that'll come with the bike (see pictures). a mix of reds and yellows. for the front and sides as well as a bare metal tank that will all come with the bike if you want them. I toyed with the idea of getting them sprayed up for track.

They include:

            Red -  Tail piece. airbox cover. front mudguard and upper left fairing.

            Yellow – Nose. airbox cover. upper left fairing. 2 upper right fairings. 2 lower right fairings. lower left fairing. front v section.

A bare metal tanks and carbon guards for the tank. They need a bit of a clean but all look intact with no major splits of cracks.

I also have what is labelled as a 748SPS chip and an old set of clutch plates.  

I bought the bike to tinker with. I wanted to build something up in the mancave during the long winter nights then have fun on track with it in the summer. But I’ve had absolutely no time this winter and am unlikely to be able to spend the time needed to bring it up to track standard by May so will be sticking with my current track bike this year.   

The previous owner said he changed the belts and battery just before I collected it early 2014 as he didn’t want it running with the old belts (just in case). I’ve done absolutely no work on it at all apart from start it about half a dozen times - which it does  every time without any problems at all. Sounds great with the exhausts and open clutch cover.

It is being sold as spares or repair as it has been sat for several years. It is not mint and would need a bit of work to get it there – that is why I felt it was ideal for a track bike. There is no reason why it couldn't go back on the road either.

I had gathered together a load of upgrades that would eventually have been fitted but will now be sold separately after the bike goes. They include discs. pads. chain and sprockets and even a gorgeous brand new Ohlins rear shock. The lucky buyer may be interested in some of these and can have first refusal on them.

I have some old MOT's and receipts for work done in the past but have no experience of riding the bike as it obviously isn’t road legal at the moment. So unfortunately I can’t give any guarantees or warrantees.

I’m not keen on breaking the bike so am looking to sell it intact. It comes with all the fairing parts listed. chip and standard exhausts. You are more than welcome to come and view before the auction ends but it would need to be evenings or weekends as I work too many hours!!!.

It is advertised elsewhere for what I feel is a reasonable price compared to the other 748's on the market so I reserve the right to remove the listing should it sell.
