Ducati GT1000, GT 1000, CAFE

Ok. here we go.   This is without a doubt my dream bike.   I always wanted a retro style caf?© bike.   Not being mechanically savvy. I stayed clear of old classic project bikes.   Then in 2007 Ducati came out with their classic collection offering 3 models.   I ran to my local dealer and immediately placed a deposit for the first delivery of the GT 1000.

The GT model was the touring version of the sport classics and to me looked more caf?© and resembled the true spirit of caf?©s of the past. Add on the leatherette tank cover. bar end mirrors. classic curved panniers and wow?ˆ¦Â  From day one. I can?ˆ™t tell you how many people would ask: what year is that bike?  It continues to turn heads and riders always want to know more about it.   I reside in NE PA and have yet to run into another one.   Truly a rare classic?ˆ¦

Note: Because it was so stinking ugly. I had the evaporative emissions canister professionally removed.   Of course this also comes with the bike should you want to reinstall it. But why!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also switched out the white headlight bulb for a Nokya yellow bulb.   It looks very cool and I know other bikers and cages can better see me.

The bike is everything I imagined it would be.   Ducati handling: nimble and well balanced. My only issue was the suspension was hard as a rock.   Every PA frost heave had me airborne.   So I contacted David Behrend of Fast Bike Industries www. fastbikeindustries. com  He set me up with ohlins and a Andreani Fork Kit.   Both the fork kit and shocks where installed by Solid Performance. Inc in Downingtown. PA www. solid-performance. com Now the bike is the ideal sport / caf?© tourer
