Description

HD FXR Low Rider

TOO MUCH FIGHTING IN THE GARAGE, HE FXR Low Rider NEEDS A NEW HOME

SHORT STORY - Hard to believe I’ve owned this bike for 21 years, nd I’m embarrassed to say that it only has, 6,758.3 miles. I just don’t ride it much anymore.

Every bike has a story. In 1979 my old friend John, ought a KZ1000 Kawasaki, rand new and just loved it. Okay, ……..now scroll forward down that long tunnel of time into 1990, nd Kevin becomes John’s friend, earns to ride, oes to Danbury Harley Davidson, n Conn. and buys this brand new FXR Low Rider off the showroom floor so they can ride together.

But, he FXR had a problem,..it was not as fast as the KZ1000 Kawasaki (which was the first of the “super bikes”). Kevin loved his FXR bike, oved how it rode and handled and he had deep pockets ($$$) so his FXR kept going back to Danbury HD where they were very happy to take his money and make the FXR faster and faster with each trip. Lots of very special things were done. For example, arley’s don’t “breathe” that well, nd they swapping out the heads for a set of Branch Okeefe heads, e got more compression, ore HP, etter flow and “faster”.

Scroll forward down that long tunnel of time again, o today (2016), 6 years later, evin’s FXR and John’s KZ1000 are both in my garage. Kevin died of heart attack, fter owning the bike for just a few years and I bought it from his wife. And John died a couple of years ago of Cancer, nd left me his KZ1000, s a gift from a old friend. Hence, hat’s the fighting in the garage at night. I swear I can hear the bikes arguing, I’m faster”, ..”No I’m faster”.

That’s the bulk of the early history of the bike. In the past 21 years of me owning and riding, didn’t customize it any further. I kept it serviced well. I replaced the base gaskets twice, maybe 8 years apart), nbsp;second time they worked a lot better with the 0-ring seals. I put roller bearing in the valve rockers, eplaced belt drive, 1 oil changes (one every season). Put some kind of super battery that never seems to die. I guess a few other things I can’t remember.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH IT and WHY YOU SELLING ?

Nothing.......It's not “perfect”, ook at all the photos and videos. It’s not restored, ust kept well. I’d change the oil again, nd charge up the battery. I’ve included a photo of the 2002 inspection sticker, t shows miles in the 13000 range, asy to do the math on the mileage.

WHAT ARE YOU BUYING TO REPLACE IT?

Me, 'm buying nothing, ust selling my bike........and you are bidding on a 1990Low Rider. No extra helmets, o free extra jackets, o covers, o alarms, o battery chargers, o free flatware, r glassware, r towels, nly a motorcycle. BUT ! ……….a have couple of large boxes of items that have been removed and replaced over the past 20 years. Lots of original stuff and aftermarket. It all goes with the bike.

Nothing to hide, o excuses, othing....I have a clean title from NY. I understand that buying a bike you may have not seen, rom a person you have not met, equires a leap of faith.
