I originally found this bike as an Italian import in 2000 with 6000kms on the speedo. It still had a green painted split link on the chain and untouched manufacturers yellow paint on brake and fork bolts. Looking round the bike I figured it was the genuine mileage this has proved to be the case. The bike had been uprated with twin discs and was in good condition for a bike that had been stood 23yrs. apart from the tank which was rotted at the bottom. I bought a brand new f2 tank which came with all new fittings. the tank along with seat trim was painted in the candy style red you see here . I fully recommissioned the bike. The carbs needed new gaskets and I uprated the shocks to Marzzoccis. the fork springs to Progressives. put new points and condensers . apered steering head bearings in it. Registered it and used the bike a lot over the next 3 years. It was a great bike. I then got myself a few newer machines over the next 9 yrs. The Honda just came out for bike nights etc. someone always wants a chat about it and their own fond memories of ownership. This is definitely a case of 'they don't make em like they used to'. Then in 2012 my new partner started riding so I put the Honda back into full service as it was very happy to ride at learner speeds. At this point I prepared the bike again. I upgraded the shocks to a nos pair of Marzzoccis I bought from Italy. I have the original shocks should you want them but the marzzocchis are a marked improvement over them. As are the progressive fork springs. I fitted new brake pads all round. Fitted new phosphor bronze swingarm bushes. Serviced the forks. new seals and oil. Fitted new genuine oem points and condensers and as an upgrade I had read about. Honda GL 1000 coils which Improve the ignition system. The air filter is an american High flow foam element. and the exhaust is a standard header 4 into 1 with a Kerker muffler. It is in good condition . Sounds nice but not too loud. I replaced the header with an oem replacement. The original was rotting on one of the down pipe connections. I fitted new Avon Roadriders at this point. The original speedo is supplied with the bike and shows 28673kms at which point I found a nos mph speedo which now shows 22194mls. The total miles on the bike now come to 17816 + 22194 which is 40010 Miles. I am a trained motorcycle mechanic and the bike has been maintained very well. Oil and filter has been changed at worst every 2000 miles often less throughout my ownership. Cam chain has been meticulously adjusted far more often than Honda deem necessary by myself and the original cam chain is still quiet. The primary chain is noisy on tick over. as it always has been but the bike sounds really sweet after a good run. I still have the original rear sprocket guard and metal spark plug caps that were on the bike when I found it. I have put stainless brake lines on and have the originals too. I have the original F1 tank fuel tap . a couple of sets of new brake shoes and new clutch plates which I bought in haste when the clutch appeared to be slipping. It had been stood a little while but soon bedded in with a couple of journeys. It proved sound so still on original. All spares are included. The bike rides really well. very smooth and the engine is strong. The bike is a credit to early Honda build quality. The tappets have been adjusted on a few occasions although I am fussy and the carbs balanced but apart from that I think all it has needed has been a couple of front brake arm services and occasional adjustment. new wheel bearings. a couple of batteries. a couple of chain and sprocket sets and a few tires. I have always used Avon road Runners on it. The rear Roadrider I fitted in 2012 is ready for replacement. I have had the bike geared up 1 tooth on the front sprocket all its life which it pulls no problem at all. so It has done quite a few less revs than it would have done with standard gearing. Last time I rode the bike was to Scotland which was a real pleasure. Apart from losing one of the side panels and damaging the other (lifting it onto the centre stand). It is all as it left the factory apart from what I have mentioned above and still looks very well. Chrome is generally good. as is paintwork. It is as honest a bike as you will find and ready to go.
