Suzuki GT 250B Classic Race Bike

 

This bike was found in a garden. underneath a shed which had fallen down years ago. A chap found this while doing a house/garden clearance for a lady living in France after losing her mother. When asked about the bike she said that her late father who died in the late eighties used to race in the seventies and thinks that this bike is possibly one that he kept. he was only a Club Racer and she doesn’t think he ever won a race. but  he really loved the sport so raced because of this.

 

From what I can gather this is a 1974  Suzuki GT 250 Ram Air Model fitted with a GT250B motor. The reason that racers used the 250B engine was because it has an extra bearing on the crank so to make it a stronger motor for racing.

 

It is fitted with twin Mikuni Carbs and a lovely pair of micron exhausts. which are in exceptional condition.

 

The motor although not started for a lot of years fired on the first push but then oiled up due to excess oil in the barrels used to protect the engine. With a fresh set of plugs in she started after a couple of pushes.

 

It is fitted with an alloy tank. race seat. fairing and rear sets.

 

The bodywork is in very good condition and as you see it is done in Crooks Suzuki colours. but I don’t think that this is a Crooks bike.

 

If you want this bike for classic racing. parade or track days. with a new set of boots. off you go.

 

Although a V5 does not accompany the bike it is still registered with the DVLA. so would make a superb Cafe Racer.
