1979 Suzuki GS1000S (SN)
I have owned this bike since 1998. Â I bought it from the original owner in Houston who had left it unridden in his garage for about 15 years. Â After going through the carbs I got it running well and rode it regularly until 2011. Â I got a newer bike and left this in the garage on a trickle charger. running the engine every 2 weeks but not riding it much.
The Good:Â all original except the gas tank. pipes. and chain and sprockets. Â The original tank had stage 5 rust cancer so I finally had to buy a NOS tank and have it painted to match. Â It’s in excellent condition. Â The original pipes had a few dings so I got some pipes from a 1000G of the same vintage. Â They are in good shape but the headers need to be cleaned up. Â When the original 630 chain had finally reached its limit I switched to a 530 chain/sprockets. Â I still have the original front/rear sprockets. Â Back tire is almost new. front still has good tread. Â Brand new battery. Â All gauges work. Â Engine/transmission run fine and have never been apart except for valve shim adjustment. Â Factory service manual and Haynes manual included. Â Currently licensed/insured.
The Bad:Â slight oil drips from valve cover and tach cable;Â crack in front fender; left hand side cover has small crack;Â small crack in clear plastic over oil temp gauge;Â small drip from carb #4;Â left hand turn signal not working (right does);Â missing right hand mirror (I have the plastic bezel for it);Â fork seals are shot after sitting too long;Â 3 small rips in seat (these were there when I bought the bike and have not enlarged);Â turn signal plastic chrome is peeling;Â some road rash on left side of fairing (see picture) this was the original owners doing. Â The bike has never been down under my ownership; the engine and carbs have surface oxidation and need a good soda blast to look good. Â Overall needs a good detailing.
Shipping not included but i can ride the bike to the shipper of your choice in the Tampa area.
