YAMAHA XJR 1200 1997.

YAMAHA XJR 1200. 1997. Genuine 22. 26 miles with all old Mot's to prove it. The original owners manual and service book is present. along with some receipts and literature. The bike has just been serviced with new semi synthetic Castrol oil. filter. plugs and the valves re-shimmed with a new cam box gasket. I have cherished this machine and have done all servicing myself. I am a time served BMW technician and simply don't trust bike shops to do a good enough job.

The paintwork is in great condition. as is the chrome all round except on the mirror stalks which are a bit grainy. but they never were well plated in the first place. The forks and sliders are pit free. as are the rear shockers. The seat is without any rips or tears and is as new. Tyres are in good condition. with the front one having lots of tread. whilst the rear has around 1000 miles or so left in it. The exhaust system is the complete original item and is in very solid  condition. with good chrome on the down pipes and silencers; the collector box is solid.

The bike is great to ride and has the usual XJR 1200 low down torque. handling very nicely into the bargain. It makes a good all round machine and long distance tourer. My reason for selling this machine is that because of work commitments. I have hardly used it this year and I think it would be better passed on to someone who will make better use of it.  

I have a set of used wrap around crash bars to go with the bike. but I never got around to fitting them. I will give these to the new owner. It is Data tagged but is not in my name. so the new owner could have it transferred over after purchase.

Bad points are - Flaky paint on the head and cylinder fins (as per photos). but bear in mind it has been on a long time and can be easily restored. Also it is my opinion that the Carburettors could benefit from balancing. The bike runs fine but I think it would make it sweeter. I have tried to describe the bike as accurately and as honestly as possible.

You can view the machine by appointment with me. as I don't keep it at my home address. you can also test ride it. but you must show proof of insurance and give me £2000 in cash. Should you drop it or damage it-you have bought it. I will not allow a test ride without these conditions being met. The bike is currently on SORN. so a test ride will be at your own risk.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will answer as best I can.
