A classic BMW sports/tourer; the original with the wind-tunnel designed fairing. I bought this bike from a neighbour 7 years' ago as a non-runner. He'd owned it since 1990 so it's had only 2 owners in the last 25 years. It had an electrical problem and wouldn't run so he stored it. During the last 8 years I've concentrated on making it rideable which it is. It's a bike with lots of character which is very nice to ride through the countryside. I've not done much cosmetic work. During the last 4/5000 miles it's had the following:Electrical. Some wiring replaced. some repaired. including that hard to reach diode at the back of the headlamp shell. All electrics now work as they should. Reconditioned starter & solenoid (recently) and new voltage regulator. Brakes. Complete overhaul. Both master cylinders and calipers had new seals. All new braided steel brake lines. Oil Cooler & Pipes. All newSeat & Seat Lock. NewBattery. NewCarburettors. Both overhauled. Tyres. Replaced & new tubes. Generally speaking it's good to look at but there are scuffs & scratches. The silencers have surface rust as can be seen in the pictures and the offside had a welding repair on the underside which is difficult to photograph. The rear lens has been glued together. again shown in the pictures. The screen is misty. The bike starts well. rides well and is very pleasing to use. You could ride it all summer without a problem. It's a good opportunity for a purchaser to tart it up a bit. It's taxed (end of Feb) & MOT'd (17th May)Why am I selling it? Well. after 54 years' motorcycling I've decided to retire so the stable must be emptied.
On 03-Feb-15 at 11:14:30 GMT. seller added the following information:Additional Information On re-reading my description I realise I omitted to mention a small dent in the end of the nearside silencer. I only mentioned welding to the offside silencer. The dent is filled and doesn't really distract from the overall appearance. I've added a photograph. My apologies.
