AWESOME 1980 BMW R80 Brat Flat Scrambler Tracker style Motorcycle :-)

1980 R80

When I bought this bike it looked as it was in picture 4. It now looks like the rest of the pictures.

I have had loads done. see list below. and I have bought all parts new when possible. It has been a pleasure to put her in this condition. I have enjoyed doing it. but I need to sell it to get a new bike!

It is a riders’ bike. I like simplicity and engineering. and I don’t see the point in having stuff that has no real function in how I ride. With that in mind I got rid of the indicators. speedo and mirrors. To get round this I use my arms to indicate. head to look behind and general traffic flow for the speed.

If you wanted you could easily put a bar end mirror. small Digi/classic speedo and some indicators on. I just didn’t want them on this bike. None of them are needed for the MOT anyway!

Firstly I got it an MOT. I think starting with a sound bike. makes the whole project easier. To get the MOT I had the following work done:

New Front tyre

New Front and rear discs and pads.

Rear shocks replaced

Front forks replaced

New Front/rear wheel bearings

New Spark plugs

New HT leads

New Air filter

New Oil filter

Oil.

Then some engine work:

New Stainless push rods tubes and seals

Carbs sonically cleaned and re balanced

New Cam follows.

Body work.

Rear mudguard cut to make new one.

Tank repaired welded and filled.

New stainless exhaust headers

New Stainless exhaust (THESE ARE QUITE LOUD) but are cool with your helmet on

New sub frame and seat from Vonzetti

New rear light.

It is a great riding bike; I have kept the original bars on as it helps my ageing back! I was going to have them powder coated black. but haven’t had it done yet. I think a pair of renthal ultra lows would look awesome if you have a younger back than me!

It’s not a ?10. 00 built bike. But it was never going to be. I like to ride them and that for me is the most important function.

The reserve is set @ ?2999. 00 It owes me more!

I don’t want any PX; I don’t want your mother-in-laws Micra with only 8K on the clock. I WILL NOT accept an offer below the reserve. I’ll keep it.

Also comes with the old seat. sub frame. rear light. rear indicators. knee pads. touch up spray. steering damper and a road legal number plate.
