I bought this bike in 2006 for $2200 from a 70 year old BMW mechanic in Tampa. It was working but there were areas in the restoration that he had done a poor job. So in 2009 I took it apart to properly restore it. I spent about $400-500 in transmission rebuilt and parts. but since I'm moving to Michigan I decided to let go of this project. What has been done is transmission rebuilt. higher Amp generator / alternator and new front turn signal lenses. I changed the clutch cable with an OEM back in 2006 but the plastic is starting to crack (doesn't affect the smooth function of the clutch). I also installed an electronic battery monitor to check the charge of the battery. These bikes had weak alternators and didn't produce enough electricity to charge the battery. I installed a 20Amp one from a bigger bike (1980s R90) that was professionally rewinded. with its electronics. I will include the old alternator with the bike and a pair of brushes with their springs. I also have some fuel line. brand new NGK spark plugs and gas filters. What needs to be done is carb restoration (I cleaned them but they need needles and gaskets). fuel tank cleaning (the guy put some weird paint in there to cover the tank. I removed some but more needs to be done. and I think Goo gone will work). restore or buy a new seat and you are set to go. The front fork is also low and will need to be restored at some point. The frame has no rust so it's a solid bike to be restored. hopefully who ever buys it won't part it out for a profit. These bikes are hard to find and I'm kinda bummed that I never finished this project but I had so much other things to do that I neglected the bike. My loss your gain. Clean title in hand.
