Description

Many experienced BMW enthusiasts don't realize the sport-touring aim of the 1991 K100RS 16V is based primarily on the BMW K1 Superbike! BMW simply bolted the K100RS fairing and front fender to the K1 frame, rivetrain, nd running gear. Along with some additional transition components. Underneath the 1991 K1100RS plastic, here sits an essentially unmolested K1! Who knew?
Identical to the K1's engine, he RS engine's most evident break with the original K100 design is its DOHC cylinder head which uses direct actuation to open its 16 valves. The new K1 head is bolted to the familiar K100 liquid-cooled, 87cc, nline-four cylinder bank. Compression is upped to 11:1 from 10.2:1. The engine's new lightened pistons and connecting rods, nd a lightened, orged crankshaft allows the engines to rev MORE QUICKLY! And a completely new Bosch Motronic engine management system combines ignition/fuel injection, eplacing (and unlike) the previous, eparate L-Jettronic fuel injection/breakerless ignition.
As with the K1, ower is fed to the rear wheel of the 1991 K100RS via BMW's Paralever shaft drive. The K100RS's triple disc brakes are straight off the K1, oo. Anyone who has had the pleasure of actually riding the quick-revving K1 will immediately make the association to this offered 1991 K100RS! The K1 stiffened frame is reduced by 2" on the RS allowing BMW to give a better turning radius, nd, ore nimbleness. The slightly altered seating position and handle bars are also a welcomed improvement over the K1 in this owner's opinion. I've owned both.
A beautiful metallic red example in wonderful cosmetic condition! Reference the photos. Operates flawlessly as the result of conscientious maintenance and loving care. Why pay as much as $15,000 for a BMW K1 when you can take advantage of the hidden, nderlying similarities of the 1991 K100RS? Own essentially the same bike for one-third the asking price! Hurry!! This BMW is a tremendous VALUE! Thanks.
