Description

1991 BMW K100 LT Sold for spares or repair onlyThis is my own bike that I have owned for several years. used for both commuting and holiday's all over Europe. It proved to be a terrific machine. and super reliable. requiring only the usual servicing like oil. tyres and brakes to carry me for over 100. 00 miles. Unfortunately I stopped using the bike so much a few years ago. and it just sat dormant in the garage. with pretty much the only riding being to and from the MOT centre each year.   I have to add that it never failed an MOT whilst I owned her.   Eventually sitting around so much became too much and one day she broke down on the motorway.   A bit of self diagnosis. I took it for another spin. and again she broke down with something felling like fuel starvation.   The engine would turn freely. but wouldn't fire.   I checked the basic mechanical side and established that there was spark at the cylinders. and fuel from the injectors. so decided the problem must be electronic and resolved to get round to investigating further.   Four years later. I still haven't gotten round to it so thought it best to sell her to someone that will either get her back on the road. or use her for spares to resurrect another bike. Mechanically. this bike was running great.   I fitted a new clutch about 20. 00 miles ago. the original one having lasted over 80. 00 miles.   There is a relatively new rear shock. drive shaft and bevel box. The seat was torn. and a local upholsterer custom made a new seat cover not long before she was taken off the road so the seat is in great condition. There was a new battery fitted not long before it came off the road. not sure if it will still be any good.   The rear tyre is good. the front is probably half way through it's life. although since the bike has been standing. you may want to replace these.   The discs are cast iron replacements. rather than the original stainless steel as the cast iron ones work better in the wet.   These have surface rust on them. but should clean up ok. afterall. they had a layer of rust on them if you left the bike for a few hours after riding in the rain!Being the LT model. it comes with vents in the side fairing to help keep you cool during hot weather. All panels are present. although the nearside ones have been removed when I was investigating the fault.   I also fitted a Givi wingrack to the bike (which has been removed. I'm keeping that!). but the original BMW panniers and top box are present along with the mounting frames and are included in the auction.   The rear indicators are included. however they were removed as not needed with the wingrack hence why they aren't in the pictures.   The mirrors are also included. but not in the pictures.   The glass in the mirrors is intact. however the outer casing is missing.   This is only cosmetic though as the mirrors work just fine and can be adjusted as normal. I had fitted an aftermarket car radio to the bike. again this has been removed as I'm keeping it. but the aerial is still fitted to the bike. and I'm including the radio mounting box with enlarged lid which is located in the left fairing pocket. Also included is the standard lid should you wish to swap back to that. Another extra I purchased was a BMW dashboard. this fits under the windshield and gives you a 12v power socket. holes for a second socket (didn't feel the need for 2 sockets!) and holes for auxiliary gauges.   I have fitted a fuel gauge and engine temp gauge. both genuine BMW items.   Whilst the fuel gauge works perfectly. I never worked out how to wire the temp gauge in so it was just for show. I can't see why it wouldn't work if wired correctly. but I think it may need an additional temperature sensor fitted. There is also a 12v socket on the handlebars. Also included are Oxford heated grips. with adjustable temperature controller. Bad bits.   I tried respraying the bike myself. and didn't do the best job in the world.   It's not awful. and pretty run free. but you'll probably want to clean that up.   The lower side fairings have some marks where I didn't do the best job of repairing some cracks.   The panels are all plastic though. and quite sturdy so would be easy to make good if you are good with bodywork.   The level you use to lower the side stand snapped off many years ago. I've attached a bar to the stand that does the jon of lowering the stand when on the bike.   The centre stand is good. The exhaust was good. and saw the bike through it's MOT's. however the guard attached to the exhaust has seen far better days. The pictures show the ABS units.   The bike originally had ABS. but this wasn't working when I bought the bike and all the other parts of the ABS have been removed. I just left the control units in place as they weren't doing any harm where they were and looked good. So there you are.   It's a fully loaded K100LT. all parts are there. fairing. panniers. some optional extras from BMW that I fitted myself.   Also included is what I think is a spare fuel and air filter.   Not sure if they are from the bike or an old car I had. but the buyer is welcome to them. Auction is a low starting price. and with no reserve. is on sale from the first bid. I'd rather it didn't go too cheap. but someone may get a bargain!Buyer will need to collect the bike with a trailer. van or similar.   You will not be able to ride the bike away.   10% deposit to be paid within 24 hours of auction end. with the balance in cash on collection. or by bank transfer prior to collection. Happy to answer any questions you have. so good luck and happy bidding!
