Description

1974 BMW R90/6 Caf? Racer built by Editor Richard Backus of Motorcycle Classics and Dairyland Insurance in the 2013 Race-To-Rebuild Sweepstakes Series of the magazine. I am the winner and proud owner of this beautiful and fantastic motorcycle. I have ridden this bike for the last couple of seasons and really enjoyed every minute of it.

This is a one-of-a-kind. well-built. well designed classic bike with some modern day tech gadgets and high quality parts and workmanship. Features include: a digital Motogadget Motoscop Pro gauge setup and sleek modern day switches and controls. Gazi Suspension shocks. Buchanans Spoke and Rim black sun anodized rims and stainless steel spokes. race fork brace. Mikuni carbs with custom intake manifolds. a nice throaty Dunstall replica exhaust system. (there is some bluing on the headers not represented in the pictures). Drilled rotors and brakes by Spiegler Performance. This sleek custom design is beautifully painted in a two tone classy dark smoke color with lighter highlights. and hand painted pin stripes. Black powder coated chassis. cylinder heads. engine covers and fork lowers. Custom racer solo seat. with Ducati racing fairing. Original headlight. new wire harness powered by a Shorai lightweight lithium battery. Dual petcocks with high quality black fuel system. and customer starter covers replaces the stock air box. Rear sets. new Duro tires. brushed aluminum signal lights and chrome cats-eye taillight with plate bracket.

No description I could come up with does this very stylish and great performing machine any justice. Do your reading and research online. This BMW has been very publicized. Read the write-ups and view the bike progress photos in the Motorcycle Classics magazine website. check out Youtube for video. I have not modified this bike in any way and is as I received it. but with some added mileage :)

The exact mileage at the moment is not available due to the battery being removed and the bike is winterized in storage. However current exact mileage can be provided. I would estimate a few thousand more then the original 39. 73 miles when I took ownership. The bike is currently registered and fully insured in Connecticut and has been through the state VIN verification. CT does not require. nor produce titles for bike older than 1983. so I retained the original owners title.

Other documentation includes the original owners manual. Motogadget operation manual. installation information for the Raask rearsets. Spiegler Performance ABM Peak brake system install and maintenance guide. nbsp; BoxerCafe. com info for the battery relocation kit. Shorai battery install and maintenance guide. Race Tech fork and dampening rod setup and use info. Rocky-Point Cycle Mikuni carb Set-up instructions. Euro MotoElectrics Voltage regulator install and use information.

The ride and looks of this BMW is a true pleasure and feels awesome. It handles well with plenty of acceleration. Great riding on windy back roads or highway rides. One minor issue I have encountered is the tail light and license plate are a bit too low for the suspension and has found the rear tire on occasion. My solution was to tweak the bracket up a bit higher for added clearance. The carbs could perform better if the intake manifold angle was modified more level. and jetting needs minor adjustment.

The folks at Motorcycle Classics Magazine and Dairyland Insurance really out did themselves with this motorcycle. I am forever honored and thankful to be a part of it.
