2000 ROYAL ENFIELD 500CC BULLET

Here is a superb opportunity to enjoy classic British style motorcycling on a budget.

This Indian built 500cc Royal Enfield Bullet is in excellent useable condition. It is an easy starter. has a lovely sweet motor and excellent tickover etc.

It charges well. the speedo is working well. New Dynovolt 12V battery just fitted.

Gearbox and clutch are A1.

The Enfield story is truly amazing when you think about it. An outdated design built in Asia to provide cheap rugged transport for the locals has become a highly desirable commodity . even back in Redditch where they were originally produced. No doubt those clever Indians will be exporting snow to the eskimos before we know it!

As the overseas demand for the Royal Enfield grew again so the production quality has been improved and improved. This 2000 example looks to me to be every bit as well made as the original version with some modern advantages such as 12 volt electrics & indicators. etc. It represents the ultimate development of the Bullet in its original “Redditch” form before the engine was redesigned.

The bike comes with V5C registration doc. reg no W638 JFC. date of reg 15th June 2000.   It is a one owner machine and has its service history.

It has an MOT until February 2016.  

Cosmetically the bike is not pristine. It is used looking with a few minor marks notably on the tank. It would benefit from a really thorough clean up as it is generally good cosmetically. The wheel rims are both excellent chrome and the spokes & nipples are stainless.

The tyres are both Dunlop K70. rear about 30% worn. the front very good.

The paint on the frame is still the original enamel and is generally very sound.

Petrol tank has a chip just above the transfer on the left side. about as big as a 10p coin. There are some scratches on top of the tank also. The seat cover is split around the edges but the seat itself is good. Other items of tinware are very good.

There is a nice toolkit in a roll inside the toolbox.

The centre stand is in good order and is nice and easy to pull the bike onto. There is also a sidestand with the bike never been fitted I presume.

All in all this is a good opportunity to own a 500cc British (style) single for probably less than half of the cost of a 1950’s machine.   A loving owner could clean & polish this bike. spend a little here and there and end up with a Royal Enfield Bullet that looks as new!
