1971 BSA Lightning 650, A65

1971 BSA Lightning 650Virtually complete oil-in-frame. twin-carb A65 Lightning. Bike has been in storage for many years. engine kicks through freely. Bike is almost all-original. minor deviations from stock being the nicely installed Lockhart oil cooler and an electronic ignition system. both desirable period add-ons. Frame is gloss black. which may have been dealer-applied. as the "Dove Grey" paint from the factory was not popular stateside. In any case. it's been professionally applied. The non-stock blue paint on the gas tank and side panels is not as well done. and the tank has picked up a couple of dents/dimples over the years. The ignition key & handgrip rubbers have gone missing during storage. but as noted this is a virtually complete Lightning. right down to the Lucas turn signals. conical brake hubs & ridged fork sliders. It shouldn't take too much to get the bike back on the road. or it would form the basis for a complete restoration without the need to chase down hard-to-find parts. The bike is located near Barstow. California and has a clear Calif. title.
