Description

1966 BSA Spitfire PROJECT BIKE.  Engine and frame serial numbers do not match. but they did not match in early 1966.  I bought this bike several years ago. partially disassembled.  So I took it completely apart. sanded and painted frame; engine was disassembled down to the sludge trap. which was cleaned.  All gaskets and seals were replaced with new parts.  Bearings that were bad were replaced with good ones.  One of the pictures shows the old parts that I took out.  Engine was reassembled up to the point shown in the pictures.  New rings were installed in a good bore. Everything you see assembled is finished. not just loosely installed.  Everything else not on the bike will need to be repaired or refinished with some parts needing replaced. that's up to you. Tires are original British Dunlops with good tread.  Rims are original Dunlop alloy racing rims fitted with 190 mm front brake (BOTH HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE). I'm sure the bike is missing some parts including bolts. brackets. and other stuff. but it is probably 90% there. Check the pictures. and if you don't see it. you don't get it. Headlight lens and tail-light lens are original Lucas.  Some of the new parts that I have put on are front brake cable. clutch cable. rear shocks. gaskets. seals. piston rings. rear chain. headlight shell and rim. The parts underneath the right side cover will need to be put together (points. condenser. kick starter. rotor. auto advance. etc. )  Most parts are included. including a new set of points and condenser.  The cylinder head has not been touched and is missing several parts (one of the rockers and all the spring washers).  This is where I stopped gathering parts.  I could give you several reasons (excuses) why I haven't continued on this project. but basically. I haven't touched it in about 3 months and it is time for someone else to continue on. Again. this is a PROJECT BIKE.  This is a 48 year old motorcycle. so this bike is being sold as is. where is. with no warranty implied.  There is no title for the bike. will give bill of sale. Shipping costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I don't mind holding the bike for a while once it is paid for. I realize it takes time to get a good shipping deal. No international shipping.  Payment is due within 7 days of the auction ending. $500 deposit due within 2 days of auction close. I will accept the balance of payment in the following ways. Paypal. Cash in person. or USPS money orders. or checks. but all funds must clear the bank before bike leaves. Please e-mail any questions and I will try to answer them the best I can.
