Description

Here is a 1976 KZ400 Cafe Racer that I have built over the last couple years.
The motor was completely disassembled and cleaned then reassembled with new gaskets, eals and piston rings. The bike has Mikuni carbs from a 2006 Banshee, hey have been tuned and jetted and work very well. The bike starts easy, dles good and runs great. It has Uni foam filters and a Supertrapp tunable muffler mated up to the stock 2 into 1 head pipes. Ignition includes new Dyna coil and plug wires with new plugs and points.
As you can see the frame has been modified and braced which gives it a much more rigid feel than stock. The frame was also modified to mount rearsets in the correct position. The swingarm has been braced and the shock mounts modified to allow a bit larger shock to be used. The shocks are from a Kaw ZR550 and have been rebuilt with new seal heads, luid, tc. The stock forks have been rebuilt as well.
The wheels were completely disassembled and cleaned. The hubs are polished on the sides and powder coated in the center. The wheels were then reassembled laced and trued and then new tubes and new Duro HF918 tires were mounted front and rear.
The bike is custom wired and all lights, orn, ndicators work as they should. The key switch and left hand/light switch are from a Kaw S2. There is a small battery under the seat cowling. This bike is kick start only from the factory as it is a KZ400 S model. The kick starter is from a KZ650 which allows it to clear the rearsets.
There is a lot of powder coating work on this bike including the frame, wingarm, ork lowers, lip ons, earsets, hock springs, eadlight and brackets. The headlight brackets are unique and handmade.
The clip on bars are custom made and the controls are all in great shape. The throttle housing and cable are new.
The hardware is all in good shape, othing rounded off or mismatched. Much of what I modified got stainless hardware. Look at the pictures and you will see all over the bike hand machined aluminum spacers and various other bits.
There is a custom aluminum license plate mount with the bike that is shown in a couple of the pictures.
The seat is custom made from a leather bomber jacket by a local upholstery shop, hey also sculpted the foam and put felt on the underside of the aluminum seat pan. It is a very nice seat.
This bike is loaded with unique details and is a one of a kind. I had a lot of fun building it and have put some test miles on it on the back roads here in rural PA. I have some other projects I want to get to so I am selling this bike hopefully to someone that will enjoy it.
I have the clear PA title signed by the previous owner, didn't put it in my name because it is costly in PA to transfer a title and doesn't make much sense if I am not keeping it. If this is a problem where you live allow a couple weeks and I will get the title put in my name.
The winning bidder will need to make a $100 non refundable paypal payment within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is to be preferably payed in cash but I will also accept other forms of payment but I will have to hold the bike long enough to ensure the funds are good. The buyer is to arrange any shipping and I will store the bike for two weeks after the auction ends.
