Superb Vintage Shovelhead 1971 Harley Davidson Police Bike CHP. Electra Glide. Original 70’s USA Police Harley virtually Mint Condition. Historic Vehicle History:This is a private sale for my virtually showroom condition 1971 CHP police Electra Glide. The bike was imported into the UK from a private museum in California many years ago and has been a joy to own and ride in the UK. The bike is extremely rare and is one of the best examples available. even more impressive when viewed. Bike was in police service for 4 years from 71 and comes with a large history file and paraphernalia from the USA. Condition:Pristine. all Electrics. Engine. Transmission and clutch is 100%. Pulls like a train. The Bike has top notch chrome/zinc works. Superb aged alloy patina fitting for the year & perfect paintwork. Rides superb and is ideal for touring. This is a daily use vintage Harley not just a show bike. I run her with a chain oiler so no rust on the underside of the bike. Frame paint is original in superb condition for the year. very few blemishes here and there. all matching frame engine numbers. The bike is 100% reliable. comfortable to ride and will cruise with ease at 80-90 mph for Motorway/Autobahn use. This is a bike you can use and ride not just to draw a crowds. although you will have to put up with the gatherings of admirers every time you park her up.  All Police Equipment:All police equipment works on the bike including Instruments and Switch gear. US History File comprehensive. 1971 Electra Glide:I have owned several FL Shovelheads during my life and in my opinion 71 was a great year for the 1200 Electra Glide as it was prior to the introduction of the infamous disk brakes. modern style switch gear and square section swing arm of the later 70‘s models. The bike retains all the vintage features from earlier models with paddle switches. the real neat integral handle bar throttle. stronger heavy tubular swing arm and drum brakes that are maintenance free. don’t flag out in the wet and seem to last the life of the bike. The 1200 Shovelhead engine is mechanically and electrically simple and a piece of cake to work on if you ever feel the need to dabble. The bendix carb is off in a couple of minutes and has virtually no moving parts. heads come off in the frame with no need to remove the engine. Electrics consist of easy access coil points and voltage regulator. the famous 70’s Hitachi starter motor which never packs up and reliable monster generator. Complete unspoiled vintage Electra Glides in pristine condition are extremely hard to find most having been chopped about with the rare few good ones commanding brand new Harley prices and rising each year representing a sound investment rather than a burning hole in your pocket.
