1982 Harley Sportster XLS Roadster 25th Anniversary 2-owner Rare Original Paint

This is a 2-owner original paint 1982 Harley Sportster. This is the XLS Roadster model. Only 1. 00 XLS models were produced and even fewer received the 25th anniversary model designation comemorating the 25th anniversary of the Sportster. I acquired this from the second owner who purchased it in 2002 from the original owner. Both owners appreciated the bikes rarity and did their best to keep it as original as possible while riding it regularly. It is in very original unmolested condition. It even has the original AMF key. The only changes from its stock configuration are the Willie & Max aftermarket saddlebags which could be removed if desired. Mechanically the bike is a good condition. There is no indication of any prior damage or major mechanical repairs. After removing from storage a new battery was installed. oil & filter changed. the carburator bowl was cleaned. spark plugs installed. and fresh gas added to get it started. It now starts and runs. shifts. and rides. It's a little cold natured but idles nice once it's warmed up. It doesn't smoke or have any unusual engine noises. It does perform a little sluggishly under acceleration and would benefit from a comprehensive tuning and perhaps full carburator rebuild. All the lights and horn work and the original wiring harness is intact. The tires have good tread but are weather cracked and would need replaced to make it fully roadworthy. Cosmetically the bike is at least a 7 out of 10. It shows honest wear from over 30 years of regular use but is in remarkably good condition for its age. The fenders and tank have a few minor paint chips and some scratches but overall it maintains an attractive. presentable appearance (pictures represent condition). The paint has a very nice shine and could be touched up and/or buffed to enhance appearance if desired. The seat is original; the rear portion has the original vinyl.
